I bought an umbrella grip for my new rifle because I didn't find the factory one comfortable and I have read that people like the umbrella grip. The literature in the box says its left smooth for "operator customization". What have you guys done with them? Stippling, rubber grips or are most just leaving them as is?
I was thinking of putting some grip (skateboard) tape on it to give it a try but I'm not sure if it's desirable for it to be that grippy or not, I've got it on my glock and I found it helped quite a bit but this is no glock so I thought I'd see what everyone else has done.

Thanks to one shot for getting it to me so quick! I wouldn't want to be uncomfortable while playing mall ninja at home :D :ar15:

I put some rubber Hogue slip ons for now. Not sure how much I like it though, I have big hands so I like a wider grip, but sometimes I find the Hogue grip slipping a little. Some skater tape is actually pretty decent. Not confident in my ability to do some stippling, but I've seen some really good examples online for stippling.

You could try a little double-sided tape under the Hogue grip to help reduce slipping.

I'm debating going the Hogue route or stippling. I figure if I screw up the stippling then I'll put a Hogue on it. :)

you can always do grip tape and stippling. Works great and looks cool too.
Example I did on a MOE grip

I put a Pachmyer slip on grip I had on my P225 on mine. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. If it dosen't work I'm thinking grip tape.

Nice job! After spending some time holding it I find it very comfortable the way it is size wise so grip tape and/or stippling looks like the way to go for me. Did you find the stippling made a big difference in the grip?

Thankyou,
Huge difference. My hand was actually showing some wear after first range session.
It has after some use became very comfortable. added bonus---great for winter and summer shooting
