Does anybody know if you can get a hold of the S-F (semi only) UMP lowers in Canada? (also known as FBI lowers)

Preferably without the fire control parts (since the USC ones will be going in instead) although I will take what I can get...

Since there are Restricted class UMP's in Canada, I will assume they are legal to own.

Or am I stuck trying to get Questar to import one from the USA (if the State Dept. will even let it out)

I am doing a partial USC to UMP conversion (barrel staying 16" for now) basically I just need the lower, I am going to make my own stock block for an AR15 stock.

Thanks guys! :D

Just make sure you don't drill any holes in the front handguard. It will damage the gun and cause it to become as likely to KaBoom as a .40 Glock. And we all know how likely that is...

An alternative is a HERA Arms USC folding stock conversion. Mine turned out good.

Arms East is the importer for Canada.

*SNIP*

I was trying to get a hold of them, I would like an AR15 tube adaptor (since I have an extra Magpul CTR I can use) and the ones they offer are not available yet. Nice looking rifle ya got there! :D

USC/UMP fire control parts are not interchangable.

I have read a great deal about the USC to UMP conversions, I know there is quite a bit of work involved ;)

I have put a Jet Funnel on my Mark23, so im sure i'll be able to handle myself with the UMP lower.

can you please post a pic of your mark23 with a jetfunnel on it. im very curious to see how that looks.

btw, ive never seen a ump lower, ive only seen full UMP's as someone just stated one sold on the EE for about 6000 i believe could be 8, not quite sure. i looked into this a while ago as i am a fan of the ump, you are much better to modify a usc, than to track down a ump lower. still good luck to ya.

Sure, I think I have a pic of it.

The magazine base plate is going to be used as a positive for a mold to make several for the 10 round magazines.

Im almost positive that there have been guys that have done USC to UMP conversions on here.... Although maybe that was before getting anything from the USA was impossible....

Even though its still a lot less than getting a factory UMP, paying 750 bucks to get a 400 dollar part is a little bit much....

I guess if worse comes to worst, then I could always get it and an HDPS stock block, and import them in 1 go....

Hey, no worries. I was just mentioning that there is no commonality between USC and UMP fire control parts AFAIK. G36 and UMP are very similar. USC and SL8 are similar.

But you installed a jet funnel, so I am sure you are qualified to reposition H/K trigger parts.

The HERA kit uses the USC fire control for a reason.;)

Well thanks for the heads up :D

The trigger group parts are quite different (the USC has a different secondary safety, since the UMP uses the auto "sear" for this task), however IIRC the holes are in the same place however they may need to be opened up to a larger diameter (need to confirm this), there are some parts that need to be modded in the grip housing for it to work though.

Here is a pic from tactical Excellence's website (they used to do conversions)

That little tab needs to be removed for the USC's "secondary safety" to fit in.

So does anybody else have any possible sources for the FBI lowers? I know they are relatively common in the USA, it seems weird that they can get them no problem, but we can't.

Well it looks like i'll be trying to get a Grease Gun lower from the USA instead....

Apparently even in the USA, the UMP FBI lowers are nowhere to be found.

Top Notch said they will pin the folding stock open, so it should be obtainable.

Dont really care about the bolt hold open....

If the UMP and G36 are similar and the USC and SL8 are similar, then the USC and UMP should be similar because the G36 and SL8 are very similar. :D The G36 and SL8 are similar. The USC and UMP are ?

The SL8 is just the civilian version of the G36. Many parts are interchangable and/or identical. I went through the manuals and matched all the identical part numbers. (Its posted in the SL8 sticky)

I have been looking for manuals for the USC and UMP to do the same thing. I found both on line. I'll do another parts list showing all matching or interchangable parts and repost it. Give me a day or 2 to make the new list.

wow, thats pretty cool. thanks for the pic,.

Here is a parts list for the UMP and USC. Some of the part number are the same. red=same part number. green= interchangable
There may be some other parts that are interchangable also. Such as some of the trigger springs.

I have found errors in the HK manuals. They are in bold letters. There may be other mistakes.
