Un-issued

Pblatzz, when I bought my Polish 44 from Alan Lever many years ago, I actually pulled it from a crate. There weren't any wrappers on any of the rifles. That doesn't mean that none of them were wrapped. Just that mine wasn't. It was packaged with several others, in a brown crate, very much the same as the SKS and CZ858 rifles were.
He had dozens of crates at the time. When I asked if he was selling sequentialy numbered lots, He said yes but he wouldn't have more than a crate or two open at any one time. That made good sense, the old store at Dunsmuir Street was pretty crowded. I was looking for a pair with lots of zeros on the end of the number and the next one with a number one. Of course I couldn't find that combination on the racks or in the one opened crate on the floor. So I only bought one. I also bought several Martin-Enfield rifles at the same time. They were all in 303 British and only two were actually decent. The others were cheaper as the muzzles were worn down on one side, right to the bores from scabbard wear.
