Hey there the tread of mine "the rifle shoppe kits" is in here just a little down the page. It has a myriad of useful info. Also sone options you have for kits are: lyman, the rifle shoppe, jim chambers, track of the wolf, dixie gun works.

There are lots others im sure some of the older crew will chime in with that info.

"...on a war ship..." You'd have to talk to the CO to get permission to have a firearm on the Boat. Even though some BP firearms, flintlock rifles, for example, are not considered to be firearms under the FA. A BP handgun kit would give 'em apoplexy. Same classifications for BP handguns as any handgun anyway.
Can't imagine you having the space for any BP rifle on a CF Boat.
Dixie Gunworks doesn't ship to Canada, as I recall.

I'm not sure you would have the tooling available to build a BP gun on a Frigate or 280. Unless it's just an assembly job (ie no milling ,filing ,welding, wood carving, etc.)

Not sure if kits are still available , but my 35 year old Thompson Center kit only required a rasp , some draw files , screwdriver and sandpaper + oil for finishjng.
Stock was fully inletted , just a little shaping needed , brass needed polish and some blueing for the barrel.
Not sure where to find one. Best of luck to you.

An admirable occupation for an able bodied sailor.

A naval vessel likely has enough tools to nearly build another ship.

But you will need some regular space and a place to secure it from potential thieves.

I'll be getting a kit soon, I hope. Maybe this next week. Fingers crossed.

I'll snap some pics.

Thanks for your service.
