Im looking to install a set of Uncle Mikes Swivel Studs. I have a 10/22 Synthetic black stock. Can I drill a hole for the studs? Or will this mess up the stock??

I found a kit for my rifle, it says to use a uncle mikes step-drill no 2, does anyone know what diameter this is?

Turns out I cant read. I was mistaking the diameter for the depth they wanted me to drill.

I have a synthetic stock, when I drilled into the butt, there was not much before I drilled thru the plastic to the inside, but there is some sort of sticky goo inside. Im wondering if thats intentional so bind up the \swivel screw when you screw it in. Anyways, I have my swivels and can now throw a strap on there.

The kit came with 2 swivel screws (1 front and 1 back) plus a barrel band swivel. So I used the barrel band and the rear, but I also installed the front on on the side of the stock just behind my trigger hand so I can use a tactical harness if I wanted. Just for kicks.

Cheers

I put a set on my synthetic a few years back also.
I drilled in 1-1/2" from the butt and I think an inch on the forearm (I went without a barrel band).
Took all of 10 minutes to do it and it was actually easier than I feared. :D

The barrel band is a funny thing, some have removed them to find their groups improved. I on the other hand, tried mine without and found the groups got bigger.
