Under crimped .308 ammo

I have a box of Winchester Super X .308 150gr Power point, with cannelure's exposed partially, or completely on more than half the bullets in the box.

The box was given to me to shoot through my M1 Garand, and i really don't trust winchester ammo for reasons like this.

Is undercrimped ammunition a risk?

I know more about guns than i do ammo lol

Edit: did you say no crimp, or crimp not in cannelure?

Probably not. Neck tension without crimping is surprisingly tough. Try to push/pull by hand and see if the bullets can be moved on a random selection.

If the fear is that without crimping that bullets may move under recoil, there is little chance of that as magazines suppoorted oal are always shorter than chamber oal. No chance of exceeding.

Bad crimp may present feedramp issues of pushing the bullets in. Depends on the condition of the ammo.

Crimp not in, or partially in cannelure.

I can see the cannelure on most of the bullet's, but i'll test to see if they move, and if not, i guess I'll fire off a few, see how they run through my Garand.

Got pics? The crimp could be there, just not alogned with the cannelure. That is fine as long as the oal is ok.

Even before firing, once at the range cycle a few manually,unfired to see if there is any movement.
 
I would not hesitate to shoot it. I have had no problems reloading .308 for an M14 and .223 for an AR15 with the bullet retained by neck tension only.

I checked to see if i could move any of the bullets inside the brass, and 8 out of 20 were loose
