You are right for the first part but will be stupid to divorce and loose everything on guns.

if you die,and you just renewed your license,they wont know or start looking for you until about year 6,IF they have time,happens all the time,they have piles of folders with "unknown locations" restricteds.they dont have time to bother with such trivial things as missing handguns,LOL

Having a PAL doesn't mean what firearms someone has, if any for that matter. If someone comes a knocking, let the lawyer do the talking.
