Underrated pistols. What guns do you think not getting their due attention?

FN FiveseveN. Best pistol ever. Incredibly accurate, even out to 100m. Less recoil than a 9mm. Holds 20 or 30 rounds (except here of course). Light weight. And finally the ammo is becoming more available up here. It's a great backup pistol to the p90

i agree!

my dad picked up the 5/7 and its incredible!
i cant wait to inherit it!

if i had money to burn id pick one up and the PS90 too boot.

While they are revolvers not pistols, SW model 10s. Reliable and with superior DA and SA triggers to anything currently made.

+1 for revolvers!
It's nice not to have to chase your brass halfway across the range. In many cases, you'll be able to shoot stupidly hot (or very mild) loads from the same gun, and they'll always be 100% reliable.
Sure, they're not the best if you're trying to be competitive in a game where you need to shoot many-many bullets in as little time as possible... But if I was allowed to carry a handgun in the wood for protection, the Redhawk is the one I'd reach for in the safe.

Nothing wrong with the speed of a Revolver!!!

Steyr L9-A1

I had one of these. Great ergos and very accurate. Very low bore axis and very little muzzle flip. Trigger had some creep. I did all the mods you can: BT striker bushings, Lee striker spring, polished trigger internals, steel guide rod, etc. It helped.

But it also stovepiped occasionally. Could never figure out why, and i do keep my thumb away from the slide. but i shoot reloads so could be a light charge on a random round, but i shoot that same ammo in other handguns with no issues.

I installed the triangle trap-sights... wish i didnt. They are cool to look at but visually distracting. 3 dot is better. Just paint the red dot white so you can actually see it.

I ended up selling it to a friend. Wish i didnt. Its a cool one to have in the collection. I might get another one day.

The P07 is definitely a sleeper. The FNP/FNX45 series of pistols are really something else. The shoot like match guns and have very decent ergos. All are worth a second look.

Not sure why the CZ Phantom hasn't made its presence known more. I should have picked up one off of EE the other day. Seems like it would be a winner with the 3 Gun Crowd and in IDPA. It is light enough to catch the eye of the LEO market if CZ made an effort.

Take Care

Looks nice, what's the trigger like?

Very similar to the gun that it is based on, the Walther P88. Heavy but smooth; pivot point is a little low so there's noticeable vertical travel on the DA pull. Very easy to shoot accurately out to 15 yards; beyond that the sights are a bit crude (as is common with service pistols). But IIRC they take P226 sights so replacements are easy to find.

For the money, if you want a metal pistol, they're basically unbeatable IMO.

I'm going to say any SIG that isn't a p226. I've never shot or handled a SIG that wasn't a nice, well put together gun but I feel like they sell a hundred 226's for every 1 gun of any other model they sell.

Being fairly new to the sport i've only shot a handfull of guns, but because of my budget my first pistol was a PPX. Really nice trigger, lotta slide on the top side for sure but shoots really nice because of it. Fit and finish is great.
Looking at a Sig 226 in .22 for the cheap shooting but having the option of a calibre change.....but I keep going back to look at the Norinco's. Always good things are said about them. For the price of that Sig calibre kit I could have a whole nuther gun!

my vote is ruger....
ruger new semi-autos in centerfire and rimfire
the older models dcp89k, dcp90k.... even the p85
ruger revolvers.... gp100, redhawk, super redhawk, blackhawks, vaqueros etc....

everything ruger gets underrated.....

Add my vote for Ruger handguns. Often dumped on. I have 3 and every one of them has many thousands of rounds through it and all are rock solid reliable, accurate and still look good.

Jerry is a paid professional shooter who spends up to 4 hours a day practicing reloads alone. His level of performance is all but unheard of. Revolvers will never be as fast as an auto in the majority of hands.

True but there are a lot of people who practice a lot with revolvers and can shoot them accurately faster than the average person can shoot a semi.

I definitely thing the Ruger SR45 doesn't get the respect it deserves. Lots of American praise for the SR line when it was released. Mine has been reliable and accurate as heck. Maybe it just fits me, but it's my favourite handgun I've handled and I've owned and used lots .
