Gentlemen, I have purchased a used Uberti Russian Model in 45 Colt and finds it shaves lead really bad. I slugged the throat and find it is .448 whereas the Uberti Schofields I have micrometer at .451 for three of them and .452 for the fourth. I was shooting .451 in the Russian and have flakes hitting my face and the external surface of the cylander is covered in lead. Does anyone know of any .448 or .449 bullets or can regular .451 be resized?

Or do I have to try and get the throat opened?

Any advise other than sell the pistol is looked forward too. thx Rigrat

Bullets can be sized down or up, down is easier. Problem is finding a sizing die that will work will be hard without custom ordering. Lyman makes a .446 or a .450 and you would have to have a Lee push thru die made which is expensive, around $50.00 with exchange and shipping etc. I have my custom H&I dies made from a machinist in California and he charges $26 US plus shipping and they are first rate and second to none. He made me a .361 for use in 38 S&W's, a .456 for my .455 Webley's and a .432 for use in my .444 Marlin lever actions, guarantee's to be accurate to within .0003".

You can also do as vagrantviking suggests and have a 'smith open it up a bit, not to costly but time is the essence and most gunsmiths are backed up at least 2 months if not more.

I carry many of these "odd" sizers, .446,.450, etc. just for such reloading problems. Something like this always comes up. I had a Uberti 38/55 that had a bore over .382", way over the normal size for that cal.

thanks

Thanks guys, I want to try the resizing first as I hate modifying a pistol. Will try .450 first and see how that goes. On the hunt for resizing equipment now. Now I gotta reload... Darn
