I found it a little odd that there's only 3 days to decide as well. The plums are always gone in short order, so that doesn't give much time to confer with any hunting partners.
Keep in mind though the supp. tags are just to shore up light applications where needed, and in Alberta we hunters are the tool of population control. Could be they have to balance June draw apps. with populations and limited budget for gamecounts?
But...you can always figure on supplemental mule doe tags pretty much across the S, moose tags available if you're willing to toss a drum of fuel in the back and head N, it's the few elk tags that are the wildcards.
And then WT buck is a general, and there are lot's of areas where moose or bull elk are general tags as well, so there's always options.
Personally I just LOVE our draw system. With 999 and draw success history available you can plan your draws with your hunting partners and pretty much know what you'll be hunting this yr, and the next, and the next....
Certainly beats the "old" system, where the local assoc. put everyones name in a bowl, and the same few guys always seemed to tag out, and no one else ever got drawn. That really sucked.
I view the supp. tags like, "Wow, a bonus round!"
Sorry for the verbal diahrea(sp?), I'm just excited about the coming hunts. (it's moose and antelope for me

)
