While reloading a bunch of .44SPL, I noticed a few of my casings were lopsided: the casing length along one side is, say 1.158", along the opposite side it's 1.143". It's enough to notice with naked eye. When I seat a bullet (215gr LSWC), they look a bit odd, but I don't notice any big difference in accuracy shot in a S&W 29 (.44Mag).
I've reloaded these casings about 3-4 times, always light loads (e.g. 4.5gr Titegroup), lightly crimped. I bought them used, so total reload count is unknown. I'm using Lee carbide dies.
Has anyone else experienced casings that are like this? I can only think that it's due to the flaring and crimping in a press/die set that isn't perfectly aligned. But it's only a few out of ~200.
