Hello I have a friend that has a, what he says, unfired series 70 1911 in 45. I’ve seen it and it does look perfect inside and out. There’s no marks on the feed ramp or on the front of the slide where I typically see something on most guns. It’s either unfired or you can count the rounds it’s fired on one hand. I’m just wondering what would something like this be valued around? Thanks for any info.

Hard to value without knowing the model or finish, and other specifics.

like asking someone what is a value of a new 2018 suv

new unfired means just that unfired but from factory, if there has beeen a handful fired, its no longer new

Series 70 normally means Colt.

If unfired and unfiddled, it is worth at least as much as a current production Colt.

Possibly more to a collector.

Anywhere between $300-$100,000 need more info

Is it an original series 70 from the ‘70’s or the reintroduced series 70 from the early 2000’s? Pictures and details required.

It’s a colt manufactured series 70 just a basic government model with really nice wood grips. They seem to have a odd tiger stripe in them which I’ve never seen before really nice. Didn’t get a photo unfortunately.

I've got a set of Colt factory medallion grips on a Series 70 type Colt Combat Commander in 9mm that have a bit of a stripe in them.

Are the grips like this:

They did look a lot like those. Beautiful gun btw. If you ever want to sell it please keep me in mind. Been looking for that exact pistol for so long.

IIRC, the real Series 70 Colts had “Series 70” rollmarked on the slide. Never had a 70, though.

While true, any 1911 without any series '80 type firing pin block safety bits in it is considered a "series 70" for differentiating between the two systems.
