I did up a quick comparison with a CTAR (25.2") and a 16"-barreled VHS-2 (27", apparently) and it doesn't look that much worse.

It does...but maybe a smidge higher than an AR, like an FS2000.The rail height looks more compatible with AR optics than the Tavor.
Agreed...I've owned four Tavors and this is the first one that's felt just right to me.But, a Tavor with a RPM handguard sure looks the sharpest hands down.

I realized this morning that I used the published OAL for the CTAR but that pic has the shorter Manticore buttpad so it's a little too big in comparison to the VHS-2. I'll fix it tonight. Are those at the same scale? The Tavor is already sitting at ~15.75", so it doesn't take all that much more to start getting ridiculous.
They seem to have tried a lot of different methods of operation in the development of this rifle!. i.e long stroke gas piston, delayed blow back (like FAMAS), direct gas impingement and finally short stroke piston.
