I've been researching precision factory rifles. I'm thinking .223 for ranges of 100-300m shooting, and considering the Blaser LRS2, or the Unique Alpine TPG-1 . There seems to be good support for the Blaser, but few comments on the UA. Has anybody here shot one/checked out one?

I e-mailed the factory, and prices are comparable for both rifles. Comments?

I checked one out at the Steyr Mannlicher shoot in Vienna,Austria a few weeks ago.I did not it shoot, though.Superbly made rifle that has according to the PSK-Berlin (PSK stands for Precision Shooter Kommando)no rivals in the accuracy Department and functuality. The rifle i was looking at had a 10 shot group Target attached to it that measured abit less than 2",shot at 300m with Hirtenberger Match ammo.
If i would spend that kind of money on a superbly made piece, then it would be the Unique Alpine.
Not even the DSR1 looks as good as the UA, but that's in the eyes of the beholder.

are they availible in canada? cause according to the sniper central site there not in the usa. IT is one of the sickest looking rifles Ive seen i wouldnt mind having one of my very own. About how much do they run? $5000 or so?

We have looked into them numerous times. However, given the 6-9 month delivery time and the $6000 price tag, we have shyed against bringing them in on spec.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the information. I did email the factory, and received a response saying that a plain, single shot .223 version with fluted , 26 inch bbl, single colour stock would be 2400 Euros ( about 3500 Cdn at 1.45 exchange I think), plus 80 Euros for paper work and 150 Euros for delivery/packaging. He said it would be 3-4 months shipping. If I ordered three or more, we could talk discounts.

I'm not sure how one would go about ordering a rifle offshore. Do you have to be a dealer?

Looks like an excellent rifle but for that kind of rig I wouldn't even consider getting a 223.

A rifle like that should be used at extended ranges to be enjoyed.

A 223 simply doesn't get there.
Well put, my friend.
300WM or 338 lapua would be my choice.

Does that mean you're taking the plunge Nemo? If so, did you order direct? What accessories did you select? Caliber?

Excellent! Perhaps you guys would give us a review once he's managed to send a few down range. What range will he be shooting at? I just got a family membership at Port Coquitlam. I need a really good rifle. My wife has threatened to out shoot me! LOL .....and I certainly don't trust my videogame savvy kids to do any worse. Maybe as a Father's day gift? Mmmmmmmm......... new rifle............mmmmmmm. Yeah.

I just received a note from Stefan at the factory regarding prices for 2007. They range now from 2800 Euros for single shot, 4200 for repeater, and 150-200 Euros for custom stock colours like cammo.
