unique cooey 64?

Refinished this for a friend and I've never seen a cooey 64 with a plastic mag. I bought mine in the early 70's and it has the keyhole shape mag like every version of the 64 I've ever seen.
The stock isn't walnut either..it looks like it's made of pine.
Is this a unique rifle or have I been living under a rock?

Yup first model 64 came with plastic mags. You can buy upgrade kits to accept the metal 64 magazines though.

tks folks. I wondered if you could upgrade as the receiver,bolt,etc are identical to mine.

They came out with a plastic mag then they gave out a pot metal magazine replacement. But if you have a very early model the ejector will be a wire not a solid ejector there was also a very early extractor that was spring steel. Curiously these make them less attractive for resale. Like people say don't lose or break the magazine they are rare.

Yep, the first model 64 with plastic mag. I have one in the box unfired as well as a 64A.
