IIRC, the Aussie's also had sand cuts in their breech block carrier (well, at least mine does). I believe that sand cuts were originally a British idea?

I had a lovely Aussie FAL that was shorter than normal. It was registered in a friend's name while I waited on my RPAL. He called me one day and informed me that it was now prohibited and I couldn't get it back. I miss my FAL. Idiot law.

I once had an Aussie one back about 1981, and it had also seen Singapore police service IIRC.

I am 12-3 and 12-5, I would trade a few guns for a Canadian C1 A1 or C2.

PNG ones are somewhat rare but there a few.

The South African ones were known by military and police as the R1 Rifle which is a straight FN FAL copy produced in South Africa. The military R4 rifle is again a copy of the Galil.
