Unique in the 375 H and H

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook lists Unique load data. I get ok reduced load results with Herco & 2400 in my .375 H&H Mag with CamPro 250gr full copper plated bullets.

If memory serves; Ross Seyfried's UMAGGB load was 8 grains of Unique and a cast bullet. Which cartridge and bullet weight? Pretty much all of them. ;)

UMAGGB stands for Universal Make Any Gun Go Bang, if you were wondering.

My cast bullet load for the H&H is 20 grains of SR4759 and a gas checked 300 grain Lyman. I had a bit of a theme going on with SR4759 and cast bullets. 12 grains for 30-30 sized cases, 14 for 308s, 16 for 30-06 and 20 or so for magnums. You can play from there looking for best accuracy.

Interesting. I wonder how close your SR4795 and Unique are on the burn rate chart. I shall investigate as there may be a safe approach to a starting load for Unique if they are closely related.

Ever try a jacketed bullet with your reduced load trials?

Unique is 41 and SR4759 is 82 so not a lot of corelation there. What I did with cast bullets is just find a place where they shot without leading and blast away. On the big guns it was more about plinking loads and near constant offhand practice. That and cost I suppose. There’s a certain pleasure in loading up an ice cream
pail and shooting until the guns feel like part of
you.

Those Campro bullets look interesting, for 2 bits apiece why they might as
well be free.

Anyone using reduced loads for cast, jacketed and/or monolithic bullets? Recipes?

The biggest cartridge I reload for with Unique is 30-06.
For all .30 caliber loads, I am using Campro 110 grs bullets meant for the 30 carbine.

All loads are very accurate out to 100 yards:
30-30 _____ 10 grs Unique
308_____ 12 grs Unique
7.5 Swiss_____ 13 grs Unique
30-06_____ 14 grs Unique

Campro has a .375 cal 250 grs bullet, but I guess you'll need enough push to avoid it getting stuck in the barrel.
Maybe IMR 4198 is a better powder choice.
The Lyman cast bullet book has a load for 249grs bullet over 24.5 grs IMR 4198 (1443fps) up to 35 grs IMR 4198 (1896fps)

I wish I could find a restock of Unique in a store somewhere, until then I don't have to worry about finding new recipes! Seems to be the last powder that is suffering from the great shortage

Lyman #46 has data for Unique and other shotgun/ pistol powders. I just had #46 out earlier so thought I would check. Nice to have older manuals as they drop old powders to make room for the new latest and greatest powder. Unique is very useful for cast bullets and I always make sure to keep a supply on hand.
