Unissued Russian SKS

I wonder what the story is on Tradeex. They have some refurbished SKSs for $169.00 that look really good. Do the numbers match on those guns? Might be an option for us "pork and beaners" that don't have a lot of money.

Because it is open to people's different interpretation.
To some people new is never uncrated
Others new means "stored never fired"
To yet others it means manufactured yesterday

I looked at the ones on Westrifles site. They are very impressive looking to say the least. What a scoop for Westrifle to get those! :D

That was a response to bjs meant to quote, not sure what happened.

Damn can't wait to get my hands on mine :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the '49's are now gone! I hope you two other guy's will post pictures of yours here when yours come in the mail with me! I think I picked the best one, but they all looked very sweet

I find your statement clear and concise not much to be left open to interpretation. "New is New and Used is Used". It does not matter if a product has been manufactured 60 years ago and put into storage or 2 weeks ago it is still new. I find it strange that Westrifle the Russian SKS experts would have to ask the general public what "New/Unissued" means, when they are the experts. Why dosent Westrifle just sell their rifles either "New" or "Used" then all the confusion goes away.

Probably because they don't want to sell an item to the customer and have them say "Well this rifle is used, because it has been handled"
I would think they are just clarifying so they have this thread to fall back on.

To me unissed means just that. It was never issued to a soldier, police man or used in anyway since it was originally manufactured. If it was used and then refurbished years later it was issued!

I'm no expert... but unissued means what it means. If it is unissued, then it means it have never been issued to a soldier in service.

Has it been fired? probably, don't all guns get fired after they are manufactured to make sure they go bang?
Has it been through mud, training, and other stress on the gun? No, it's unissued.
So in this context of russian made SKS in 1949, unissued guns is just that.

No ordered unissued all numbers matching so lucky dip on year for me just replying on the classification discussion

Just a back story for everyone here. The one I have on the website (90 %) were stored in the warehouse in the department of defense. Never issued to anyone. No refurbished marks ( <> ) . Those are not new but handled. ALL MATCHING NUMBERS :)
As to Tradex SKS I do know what he got but so far I kind of do not want to discuss it in my Sub-forum. Anthony is a great guy to deal and to work for but he did not get SKS from me.

Cheers

Al

By your intepretation it means 90 % of my shipment are unissued. Wohoooooooo

That's absolutely wicked! I'm excited to have an unissued, non refurbed, first year of production SKS coming to me ANYWAY but having it come straight from the department of defense just adds a whole heap of awesome to this beauty!!!

I'm really looking forward to getting my unissued rifle. I have a refurb that is a little beaten up as my regular shooter. This one will be a keeper!
Thank you for getting more.

what do you mean by handled ? Please explain

they were packed in grease/cosmo and socked away, then taken out and inspected every 5 years or so. When these inspections were happening, they were touched, or handled. As they were military firearms in long term storage, I highly doubt the inspectors were too particular about how gentle they were with them. Therefore they may have some bumps and bruises. aka Handling Marks. This is just a way for Al to cover his butt if someone orders an 'unissued' firearm and it comes with a small ding or scrape.

Exactly. I think it is great that the guys at Westrifle decided to get everybody agree on the definition of what New, Unissued means first.
I think this is very important especially when the sales happen over the net. This is way buyers and sellers will be on the same page and know exactly what they are getting. In the end everybody will be happy.
