So what do we have here? I’d like to hear from the guys who’ve gotten Izhevsk made SKS from this shipment. I’d like to get one, knowing what I’m getting.

Very nice pics! at least, we have 49 with the proper stock, not like the previous batch. Mine may have a refurb stamp but does't bother me at all, i waited long to find the proper 1949. when i bought my second 49 more than 1 year ago, i really didnt expect that nicer species would come in. I will keep looking this winter for somes more sks's, need 2 izhevsk 53 and 54, a nice 56 laminate. will also need 4 svt 40, if money follow ofcThe following is a link to my video of her being unboxed for the very first time:

I guess you've not been around SKS45s for long. Ever see a non-refurb with peeling shellac? There are some out there,but many more that have been re-shellaced at some point. As long as the numbers match,gold bayonet is present,the stock is not X'd out and retains all the correct cartouches and stamps,it is still a non-refurbed rifle.

I try to post all unissued on the web right now. When I post pictures in the morning at night most of the items are bought. I have been selling a minimum of 20 rifles a day. If you want unissued when you order those just look at the pictures and say it in the comments. If when I package it I see something that I don't like I will tell you. So far I had one that was issued all matching number and the person that bought it was still very happy

Don’t mean to hijack the thread, but I have a question to SKS experts: why SKS Izhevsk doesn’t have that golden color as the Tula made?

Because it was added for very special tactical reasons....
To be honest the gold colored bayonets' have just been dyed by their time in the cosmoline.

From my experience, I have never seen a Russian SKS with a spike bayonet before. I have handled multiple unissued 49's, and they all had blades. All the chinese ones i've seen had spikes though. Maybe the earlier 49's had spikes? Another thing I noticed is that the 49's don't have the chrome lined barrels, not sure what year they started that. My local dealer has been selling crate after crate of SKS's in all years ranging from 1949 to 1956. They were all in cool green crates of 15 with the rifles covered in cosmoline. I have noticed a few with the X's on the stock where they have been force matched, but for the most part, the others were all unissued with matching SN's. They sure are a neat piece of history.

How rare is the 1949 SKS with the spike bayo? Wondering how many people have some, i've seen them selling for more than a grand in the USA.
