In general, the russian are better finished but the chinese are equally reliable. I collect russian but i bought a chinese17 years ago(still have it) and its a very fine carbine.I picked up a few of the Norinco SKS + 1440 crate of 7.62 deals from Marstar. $375 + S&H for everything.

I have heard the Russians are a bit nicer/more reliable, but so far I have no complaints. Just make sure if you are getting unissued in cosmoline you pull the entire firing pin apparatus apart and clean the hell out of it. Pretty much every case of slam-fire is because people have cleaned everything else up nice and then failed to disassemble the pin assembly and wipe all of the cosmoline out of there. It's very easy to do, too.
You don't think we understood that ! ?
If you want selection, buy now. The options are already dwindling. Most of what's out there seems to be 53 or 54 Tulas which are not rare, compared to Izzies and other year Tulas.

Hi Sergey,
Sorry for my newbie question, but could you educate me please, what is a difference between hardwood and laminated SKS ? Why did you recommend hardwood ?
