Unitized gas system swap?

Is there any benefit to be had from taking a unitized has system off of one m14/m305 and installing it on another? Or is it something that has to be done specifically for one rifle?

Great question. I think it depends how the system was unitized. If it was jigged in YOUR rifle and tack welded in place on the gun, it may not optimally fit another gun. If it was done in a correct USMC-style centering jig, it will interchange to any rifle reliably.
