I bought a bunch of universal clays powder on sale a while ago. Anyone have any load data : universal clay powder for a berry's bullet 150 gr copper plated bullet ?. max velocity should not be over 1700 fps. I want to make some cheap plinking ammo .

http://www.hodgdon.com/ has reduced loads using H4895 and trailboss. You can Google Universal Clays 30-30 loads but these are even lighter loads than using H4895 and some Trail boss loads. Bottom line, there are much better powder choices than Universal Clays for what you want to do. Save your Universal Clays for your pistols and shotguns.

Ganderite , I am used to putting 31gr of imr 3031 with a 150 core lock bullet. What about all that space left in the case ?, is that an issue?

10 grains of Unique with those Berry's was my plinking load when I was shooting a lot of 30-30.

+1 for 10 grains of Universal. It seems that it is sufficiently close to Unique that the same rule of thumb applies that somewhere around 10 grains will work as a plinking load for most centrefire rifle cartridges.

I follow another forum, and the discussion on Universal is that it is position sensitive.
some shooters found it to be significant at distance but close shots were not an issue.
perhaps some poly fill to hold the powder back would work if you were target shooting. Probably not worth the effort for plinking.
