Universal gold plated .30 M1 carbine

Was that separate-from or related-to the "spring issues" and "magazine issues"?.... :yingyang:

The only 2 I've handled have been an Iver Johnson (sp?) and a National Postal, so limited first-hand experience here...

You can see the oprod is different, the bolt cam goes straight through, these can crack and replacements are not really available.
The cast alloy trigger housing cracks as well.
The changes they made to the design created several deficiencies.
I have an early 4 digit Universal, other then the receiver and barrel it's all USGI parts. The barrel is strange as it appears to be a Marlin micro groove with 12 lands.

Understood; thanks for the education!....

S.I.R was awesome. Was a great place to shop, recall fondly getting their flyers and heading over to Ellice ave.

I remember walking in to the store to buy a squires bingham .22 cal M16 look a like for about $300. After handling it, I asked to see an AR-15. I ended up buying that instead for $750. You just showed your FAC, and left with the rifle.
They also had Enfield .38 revolvers for $35 each, new condition jungle carbines for $125, and Mosin Nagants were $50 for the first one, and a penny for the second.
