My favorite sound is the crack of the rifle followed immediately by the SMACK on impact.

deer-- jumper
moose-- slobber nose
deer calf--- goat
 
Great thread, someone mentioned "Tattoo" as being kicked by a "not quite dead" deer. Has anyone actually been kicked by one?

My old man had a scar on his thumb from trying to field dress a doe that wasn't as dead as he thought it was. He also had a low opinion of mergansers, and referred to them as "fish ducks".
 
White Fronted Geese = Specks, Specklebellies, Bar Bellies
Canada's = Honkers, Lessers, Darks
Snow Geese = Whites, White Devils, Snows
Blue Geese = Blues, Eagleheads
Young Snow/Blue Geese = Juvies
Mallards = Greenheads, Greenies, Susies
Ruffed Grouse = Ruffies, Partridge, Ditch Chickens
My Grandfather once referred to a Blacktail Deer Doe with twin fawns that appeared in front of us as dinner and two pots of soup. LOL

160 plus - shooter
Moose - rubber lips, swamp donkey

bang, bang, bang - noise of hunter who can't aim, or is shooting at a running deer. In case of waterfowl hunter - hunter who can't shoot, or is shooting doubles, or warming his hands.
hunter - one who practices shooting throughout the year
most hunters - those who clog the range up on the Saturday before deer season, or echo the countryside on same day.... also "bang, bang, bang".
bang - sound signature of the 30-30 class
BOOM - sound signature of 270win class or greater
shmuck - the distinct sound of a bullet striking flesh.
creak, ahh, moan, snort, hack, pfffbtt - series of sounds made by a hunter at dusk having stood up from still hunting.
beer - what other groups of hunters are drinking to make their hunt less enjoyable.
little prick - the red squirrel that chatters at someone engaged in still hunting.
probable - seeing a dozen grouse strut past on a day of still hunting for deer.
probable - seeing a deer at 200 yards when hunting with slugs or buckshot.
doll - huntress - potential wife material
scat - pellets, crap, assphal, land mine
track - track (of whatever made it) to deer highway for heavily used track.
stand - a place of concealment in which to sit.
club - Uncle's abused 30-30
