When I started reloading I went on a quest for one load for 4, 30-06s,I was looking for 180gr hunting load. I used old H-4350 and IMR-4350,both powders have since changed, BTW. When one rifle tightened up,the other would open. I gave up,the M-700 and M-70 would used the same load,and adjusted the Browning to the Marlin MR-7 load. So I came to believe the "each rifle is a individual". But John Barness has found a load using Hunter that has worked well in every 30-06 he tried. Look it up on 24hr. I think maybe I didn't use the right powder.So when someone asks for a load for .....,maybe there is a good load in every rifle tried.

in my opinion there is 2 reasons why reloading is good. 1 it's cheaper. 2 custom ammo for a specific gun. I do believe there are loads that are ok for most guns, that's what they try to do with factory ammo and there is alot of variance in results between rifles. my 30-06 hates federal blue box. but there are lots of other 30-06 that love it.
It`s not only powder that can give fits when reloading. Bullets of different manufacture, wieght and shape can affect your pursuit of perfection. Usually brass doesn`t come into play until you get into samll group shooting. So many variables, make for fun at the shooting bench.
25 years ago I pulled bullets from 5 boxes of .308 Winchester each from a different lot.
One box had a 2.1 grain variation in the powder charges, and over the five lots the variation was 3.5 grains.
One day would see a lot give a group under 2 inches and the next it would be over 4".
Standarizing the load to a 0.1 grain variation gave consistence groups under 2" and 200 yards from 4 different rifles.
The volume of factory produced ammo for hunting does not lend itself to accuracy.
