They did have some problems ,I still have one with a 19" barrel and it still runs flawless with the plastic 4 shot single stack mags .Never got it to run reliably with the mil surp 15 or the 30s which is not really a problem as 5 is max any how .Only ever broke the trigger housing during a tumble ,replaced it and still good .

I once owned a Gen III Universal. It was accurate but barely passed the safety checks for out of battery firing.

The auto ordnance I picked up worked fine,100 rds yesterday.
No feed issues or problems.Luck of the draw I guess.

I have a Howa, it's the only non-US WW2 carbine I'd recomend, every single part is GI compatible, except the rear sight. Although the new AO non-restricted carbines are very, very, very tempting.
