Unnissued Danish M1?

I know most US M1s have been used and rebuilt numerous times. But what about the M1s that went to the Danes? were they pretty-well treated the same, or did many of them end up in storage and escape the rebuild programs? (kinda like the 50s No4Mk2 Fazakerlys we see quite often.)

Any of the US manufactured M1's that were lent to the Danes likely would have seen some rebuilding at one point or another. They only lent used rifles IIRC, nothing new.
You might find an itallian M1 that wasn't used or used very little. Claven had one that looked brand new, Breda I think. Fool traded it for some crappy mauser IIRC:)
 
Didn't they all get new Danish barrels?
Not a bad thing, because the Danish barrel shoot very well, I've heard. Mine certainly does.

Barrels/parts only got replaced when necessary. I have a Breda and Beretta that were Danish property, Breda is original, Beretta has a few VAR parts and a VAR Barrel.

I had a Danish Springfield that was arsenal refinished to outstanding condition and then put into storage. It is was the best new old rifle I ever had. It was replaced with a similar Breda.
 
Ex Danish SA receiver from mid '45 with 4-60 VAR barrel and the bolt is marked with some funny letters that look like P B ( as is the front sling swivel) - looks like those d---d Danish armorers just grabbed the next piece they needed out of whatever bin was closest!:D

PB is Beretta's mark......
 
So, what's a fair price for a Danish Garand with a "new" barrel (sharp rifling, no measurable throat erosion) ? The piece I have in mind has excellent metal but only "OK" wood (with handling marks and little dings).

got a dane springer in a trade a few years back. it had been rearsenaled in 89, pretty much all refinished with a new var barrel. only parts not doe was the cylinder lock and screw, it was still packed in cosmo:D not a wear mark on it, only disappointing thing was the stock was only in "good" condition:D. it was really neat to be the guy putting the fir shot down a 50's era unfired barrel:eek:

A fair price for a Danish/Breda/PB/Springfield Garand in this condition (with no metal pitting) would be in the $500-600 dollar range

Yes, but a REALISTIC price in the EE lately is more like $800+ A sad state of affairs.

It is sad, but I have got 3 in the last 2 months, I paid well below what some Garands are being listed at these days. These sellers have been fair, and are asking the right price.........just beware......don't hesitate when these deals hit the board or you will lose out...... tire kickers or trying to get $25.00 off the asking will mean losing the purchase, as the next guy will say "I'll Take it."

If you don't mind me asking where did you find 3 of them priced under what is normally posted on the EE boards? I'd like a stab at that! :)

Like I said in my post......they do happen on the EE.....I'll leave the next deal for you Gator........I'm tapped out anyway from the last month of buying.:runaway:

I meant in the $400-$500 is what I paid, not the $800 that seems to be the asking price for some listed on the EE. I did pay a bit more for one, but this was an exception......It was an IHC with almost all IHC parts, and an IHC stock.....well worth the money I paid........to me anyway:dancingbanana:
 
I have MANY MANY carbines

i personally dont pay more then 300.00 for an origional all matching not rebuilt

most carbine barrels were NEVER replacd as the 30. carbine was none corrisive

The OTHER M1, the one that came first.......not the carbine....:)
