Curious as to where it came from...CF never sold that ammo on the public market. They did sell the empty brass through metal salvagers.

Oh yes they did, I still have a few brick of 22LR clearly marked DND on the package, also purchased at SAIL in the early 90's and I remember they had tons for sale back then.

Large quantities were supplied to the DCRA and PRAs over the years until DND stopped this practice in the late 80's. The end of the cold war sure changed things a lot. Not all of this ammo was used up on the ranges and I'm sure some of it made their way into private ownership Before that time, the DCRA and PRAs were supplied with .303BR. When DND switched over to the C1A1, the PRAs started receiving the 7.62Nato ammo, Dominion Arsenal first and then IVI. When this happend PRA shooters switched their target rifles over to 7.62Nato as well. There was always a lot of discussion on how to chamber and select the bores on the barrels to make this ammo shoot accurately. IIRC, barrels were bored at .306 or .307 instead of the standard .308 caliber. All this fudging made the rifles shoot pretty good. However, when DND stopped supplying ammo and we had to load or buy our own, groups suddenly shrank

Milarm was selling some that was surplus'd in the 80's when the prison guards switched from 7.62 to 5.56. It didn't come in bandoleers though, just in 20rd cardboard boxes.

It seemed DA '65 was highly praised by PRA shooters in the Target Rifle section. I remember discussing IvI ball 1970's vintage for accuracy in my P-H 1200 and in an L1A1. He was much older than me(this was over thirty years ago) and he said the DA 65 was the best in DCRA 762 L/E's and in the Sportco's.

So you may have some of the best Canadian made 762NATO ammo made in regards to accuracy.
