Unpleaseant Hunting Experience

we were hunting geese in Ont. One time and could not figure why the geese kept flaring on final approach ? We checked everything that we could see in our decoy spread. When we decided to leave as dark was coming we saw a lady and 3 kids about 75 yrds behind us in yellow rain suits and it was not raining ! Waving there arms at the birds. Well f%$k me i was mad. She was on her own property and told me she could do what she wanted. I told her what a stupid ##### she was for doing that with 3 kids under 8 yrs old.

I spoke with Fish and Wildlife today and harrassing hunters/game is an offence under the wildlife act.

Prohibition of harassment of hunters

47(1) A person shall not interfere with the lawful hunting of wildlife by another person, or with any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of preventing or impeding the hunting or the continuation of the hunting.

(2) A person shall not disturb, or engage in an activity that will tend to disturb, wildlife with the intention of preventing or impeding its being lawfully hunted.

(3) A person shall not disturb another person who is engaged in the lawful hunting of wildlife, or in any lawful activity preparatory to such hunting, with the intention of dissuading that person from hunting or otherwise preventing the hunting or of preventing that person’s enjoyment of the outdoors.

They took the complaint quite seriously and are interested in talking to the woman. Unfortunately without a company or plate number it may be tough to track down, but we'll see.

Get over it,find out were she works and harass her, then she will say you threatened her while holding a fire arm, then you will be the loser in this she will be free you will be in court. There are more elk to shoot so go get one.As firearms owners we can not f**k around with revenge, because we will be the loser.

This is an absolutely stupid post. No one ever even hinted at him personally harassing the women. THAT would be illegal and would get him in serious trouble. Every post prior to yours said specifically to file a complaint with F&W because what the women did WAS AN OFFENCE. Why on earth you would think that this guy filing a report would get him in trouble is beyond me.

OP: Hopefully they can find the women and something will be done about her ignorant behaviour. Good on you for reporting her and sorry to hear that your hunt was ruined. It'd be nice if they let you know the out come as well, I'd be interested in hearing what happens if they find her.

I'd be going back to the same general area, keeping an eye out of any Vac truck and talk to all oilfield employee's, asking them if they know her name and company. Take a drive down the road, the way she was travelling and see what's down there, maybe a rig or other oilfield structure. If you talk to any oilfield employee's, don't tell them why.

Gunslinger I am sorry you do not like my post, perhaps your opinion is the only one that counts, every poster before my post wanted to catch up with her, correct, find her have her charged, some times when you get what you want,it is more than you bargained for.(Bruce)

All it takes is any one to say you threatened them and you are f**ked.

Ps I did not like your post it seamed trivial and out of touch with the thread.See how that works and officer he pointed the gun at me,I was scared for my live and now he is calling everywhere to find my identity!!
He has guns he is going to kill me.!!! Can you help me???I am scared for my live.No I was beeping my horn and backing up because there was a cat on the road I was worried it could get run over and cause an accident.

As for the goose hunters, the lady did not like you killing the geese, she was well within her right to do what she wanted on her property.Calling her a stupid ##### probably elevated our status with her and her friends.Hunters a minority always will be.

My bother in-law and I where on a cow elk hunt a few years back .He shot the cow one shot nice clean kill
on his LEH .He was bringing the truck around I was out at the elk starting work when this pickup pulled up
and just started ragging on him about shooting this elk . I could here the hollering so I started over and asked
what the hell was going on .My Brother in-law is a small frame guy and this big guy was just dressing him down as he tried to
explain everything was legal. As I got closer I realized what was going on. I holder to the guy you had
better be in your truck and gone when I get to the F^#ken road pal because the talking is over .

He was gone so we started working on the Elk had it all cleaned and ran a line to bring it
out out of the slash when I see flashing lights coming the CO's where on scene said
they had a report of someone poaching a elk .He already new my Brother laws name
checked out the LEH and Tag and congratulated him on taking a mature cow elk
and helped us load it in the truck and was on his way . But what a bull#### thing to
do my blood is boiling just reliving that day .

Talk about out of touch.. if this really happened she would have called the cops FIRST... by having the OP contact the MNR, he has shown that she was the original cause of the problem, not him.. if she makes claims of "pointing a gun" after she gets confronted, then the CO will KNOW she is a troublemaker and take appropriate action..

your response is out of touch with reality.

No, she is not within her rights "because she was on her property". She was still interfering with a legal hunt. It doesn't matter where they are standing. Like the woman in the vac. truck had a license to drive - so what?

Some of us already gave up and what a shame to live the life of a worm!
Remember this:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke

Grouse Man you are right. Being on your property does not entitle you to do whatever you like, but you learn this if you live among people.

T3Hunter, if this was an oil field related vac truck, it should be very easy to find out who it was. I understand you may not want to give up your spot to the masses, but if you pm me the area, I can get a list of vac companies that operate there. Thats part of what I do....

Also, the color of truck would help.

The Oil Company who hires the truck would be a good place to get a little justice too. If it's a bigger one they can sometimes be surprisingly sensitive to bad PR

That I doubt. There won't be many women running vac trucks, and even fewer servicing that area, and even fewer if you can narrow down the time. A lot of service trucks are carying GPS these days, which will pinpoint the individual.

I would love to see someone charged with wearing a yellow rain coat and waving there arms around to scare off geese in there back yard. Not a chance in Ontario the papers would have a hay day.

Not so fast my friend. Nobody at anytime or anyplace can interfere with a legal hunt. It doesn't matter whether you're on your rooftop or in your backyard or driving by in your home made go cart, you cannot maliciously or intentionally interfere with a legal hunt. Period.

And yes, the papers would have a hay day.

(CP) Local authorities pressed charges today against two local bird lovers who intentionally attempted to prevent a legal goose hunt nearby. Although today's weather was was sunny and warm, the mother and daughter fast feathered duo stood in their backyard donned in bright yellow rain-suits yelling and flailing their arms up and down in order to ward off geese from coming into range for the licensed hunters.

Local authorities indicated the the two will be charged under the Fish and Game Act that protects hunters from being harassed or interference from antis and PETA types. Police spokesperson further indicated the flighty duo would be checked for existing mental problems and possible medication abuse..

even if what she was doing was intentional interfearance with a legal hunt? this is why some provinces made rules about interfearing with hunters.
