up and close to a moose

you can see it twitch it's ears when the camera no doubt made little noises zooming as it drew closer! :D

I love nature and the restraint of those two is impeccable. they make me proud!

With my limited experience with cow moose... was the guy really in danger? If he moved, would the cow be more likely to dart away, or attack?

A bull moose I know would be a pretty big threat, but is a cow with a calf just as dangerous?

I've had a cow with twins at about 20 yards. She knew I was there but didn't figure out what I was. She tried everything to make me move so she could identify me. She bluff charged a few feet. (If she had been inside 10 yards I bet I would have moved) Then she pretended to run away to see if I'd chase. Then she came back and stomped her feet. We had a stand off for about a half hour before she finally wondered away.

I'm thinking a cow that felt you were a threat to her calf would be very bad news.

The cow would most likely have run, but, cows have killed before. There was a video on the net a while back of a fellow that was killed in front of a grocery store by a cow moose. The story went that kids had been snowballing her and her calf. The innocent man just tried to walk by and was trampled, and pounded into the snow with huge front feet.

I've been charged by a cow before, and she meant business. Only the fact that there were two of us kept her from doing some serious harm. (I had shot her calf)
