I just finished building the stand and have powered up my new toy. It still needs some tweaking and playing with temperatures, but I cranked out half a coffee can of 130gr .38's today. Now I have to powder coat and size them.

I had been using a friend's unit for about eight or nine years but he unexpectedly passed away a couple of years ago so I lost access to his rig. Finally said screw it and ordered my own.

Darn it Auggie this post sure got me to reminiscing about a couple of things...miss that guy, he was one of the most knowledgeable men I ever met and in the bar after his service, someone, I won't mention who, got me started down this bottomless rabbit hole of powder coating bullets LOL.

Glad you got your own outfit, looks like a dandy, what is the cyclic rate for those 130's. I just started casting with a new Lee 20 lb. bottom pour furnace (ya I know everybody complains about them "dripping" continually but guess I am lucky one so far, 50 lbs of lead thru it and not one drip) the other day and have been running at about a hundred slugs an hr ( 400 & 350 gr .458 dia.).

Including warming up the mold and tossing the first rejects back in the pot and diddling around to get things adjusted, I did about 900 in 2-1/2 hours. Should be able to do a steady 450-500/hour once I get things all figured out. Still learning this rig and breaking it in.

It's a Master Caster from Magma Engineering. It uses their own molds, but other molds can be modified to fit into it. They are a little dear at $1100us and molds are another $95 us each. Shipping to my door was another $180us. Ouch.

really nice toy you have, I wish I had one too. my production rate with a lee 6 cav mold and 20 lb lyman pot is probably not too far off your production rate, and I could maybe do a little better with two sets of blocks going at the same time, switching after every pour to let them cool a bit. anyway, I make enough bullets to keep myself happy. congratulations,AD.

There is a first class gent here located also in AB who still has for sale molds for MC. I'll check for the exact handle but it is here as Stag and a number. I thought you may be interested.
Congrats for your new toy. You will love it more and more with every casting session. The feel of cranking that handle and the sound of two bullets falling in the bucket is pure orgasm.
I already know what's next in your mind. You dream of automate it. I dare you to tell me I'm wrong, ha ha.

Have fun.

I have seen video of the automated rigs. Neat but actually not something I'm interested in doing to mine.

As stated earlier I had been using a friend's rig for 8 or so years until his passing. He had a large four drawer filing cabinet filled with molds. His son got the MC, the Bullet Master and auto luber and all the molds. I enquired if he wanted to sell anything but he said he hadn't thought about it and didn't seem too interested so I went with new.

Definately interested in this guy with molds for sale.

I found the handle. stag15. Look him up and I think it will be a unique opportunity for him to sell his molds and for you to buy some extra. I don't make any money out of it, I just want to help.
Good luck
