My first time getting out for the end of the month one week goose season here in Ontario, anyone have any tips? anything that should be done differently at this time of the year?

Scout hard, birds move more this time of year. You want to have your spread set right on the X. I have never hunted the early season but I know it can produce.

Mix your early season tactics and late season tactics. You don't need 1000 birds in a field for a good early season shoot, but the birds may be gun shy from the regular season so tweak your spread accordingly.

There's an early season!? Does it apply to southern Ontario? I'm going to dig up my regs book... I've been tweeking pretty hard these past couple of weeks thinking of all the grouse, duck and goose waiting for me...
Last season was the first for me, and I'm hooked pretty hard!

Areas with no Sunday Hunting have the February season.

Hey, ya it is, there is a one week nuisance season, I believe this Saturday it starts for 7 days. I am in Niagara and planning on going out this weekend, I see you are from there too, let me know if you need a hunting partner for the weekend, I am always looking for new people/places to hunt

Well now... That craps in my cornflakes... Before I even got to check the regs... Lol... I have no fields to hunt...
During the spring season (mud season here on the prairies), with the right winds, pass shooting sngo can produce some incredible shoots. We'll do this when the mud makes field hunting virtually impossible (or when we're plain wore out), nothing worse then 1000 wet and muddy silosocks!

Well, I was very politely reminded by the wife that we have previous commitments this weekend... we'll be up in Cambridge for a birthday party in the evening, and i promised her we would go motorcycle shopping in the morning.
I might be able to do Friday/Saturday next week and catch the tail end of the season. Let me double check with the wife and I'll let you know ;) I'm always open to meeting new hunting partners and trying new places too so even if we cant make it work this week, we can do something come the normal season in September.
cheers

My brother in-law is in port colborne; he sent me a text message last night saying geese were everywhere, even landing in the little pond in his back yard. seems they're not that shy anymore. He said he could kill one by hitting it over the head with a banana they're so close! ARGH!

Alright, im sure something can work out, but I just learned this is only for municipalities that have no sunday gun hunting permitted, this is making up for it, so I cannot hunt the properties I though I could because they are in municipalities that allow sunday gun hunting... Pretty sure port Colbourne allows sunday hunting soooo probably no goose season. BOO
