Upcoming Sunday Hunting Meetings
Dear Members:
Over the next ten days, three local municipalities will be voting to allow or not allow Sunday gun hunting.
Two of these, Asphodel-Norwood and Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield, have recently held public meetings where strong support for Sunday gun hunting was shown.
On Monday May 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., The Township of Asphodel-Norwood will be voting whether or not to allow Sunday hunting at the Council meeting held at 2357 County Road 45 in Norwood. There will be one deputation speaking to Council at 7:05 opposed to Sunday hunting. Given the strong support shown at the public meeting, it will be important for all local hunters to show up at the Council meeting to make sure Council gets the right message. The O.F.A.H. will have a staff person in attendance, and your support for Sunday hunting is appreciated.
On Tuesday May 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m., Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Council will also be voting whether or not to allow Sunday gun hunting at the Council meeting held at 1310 Centre Line, R.R. #4 Peterborough. Once again, the public meeting held on this issue saw strong support for this proposal, and it will be important that as many local hunters as possible turn out for the meeting to remind Council of the support that exists for Sunday gun hunting.
On Tuesday May 6, 2008, the O.F.A.H. will be making a presentation in support of Sunday gun hunting at the Municipality of Galway-Cavendish-Harvey located at 701 County Road 36, north of Bobcaygeon. It is critical that as many hunters in the area, or who live elsewhere but hunt in the area turn out for the meeting. This is the same Council that earlier this year passed a resolution that has been sent to all municipalities across Ontario to ban handguns.
Thank you for your support and cooperation, and we hope to see many of you at one or more of these meetings in support of Sunday gun hunting.
Greg Farrant
O.F.A.H. Manager of Government Relations & Communications
