TALO 7" 7 shot 686 .357mag

Thanks for everyone's help in choosing this one. The gun is fairly "top heavy" and my standard "automatic" grip doesn't seem to fit well (i have shot numerous autos, but not much with revolvers). It could also be the custom TALO grips, which look beautiful don't seem to function well. Has anyone tried an adjusted grip where the supporting hands index finger goes over the trigger guard? I am playing around with some minor adjustments before the range this weekend :)

Whatever "grip" you come up with just be sure your hands/fingers are clear of the forcing cone area or you're going to get some serious side-blast.
A full-lug 7.5"bbl is going to be a bit nose heavy but you'll get used to it once you start blasting away.
btw...your backsplash and countertop is almost identical to mine. I'll have to post a similar pic...

Oh my...:xes. I am a bit confused when you're asking about supporting hand and changing the grips. DON'T CHANGE THE GRIP PROFILE! YOU'RE HOLDING IT WRONG!!

'K, drama aside, try gripping under the trigger guard with the supporting hand. If shooting RH the LH index finger ought to rest between (and on top of) the RH middle and ring fingers. The rest of the LH fingers will follow suit and curl around the bottom of the RH slightly. "WHERE DO MY THUMBS GO!" {more drama:p} try ##### crossing the thumbs LH (if shooting RH) on top of the back of the RH.

This grip will initially feel weird as he11 as you're accustom to shooting semi's with a reciprocating slide that you have trained yourself to stay well away from, but in the wonderful world of wheel guns this grip allows working the hammer spur into single action with the supporting hand (thumb) thereby not breaking your grip.

Very nice gun, and it's meant to be top heavy, that's what controls the recoil flip so marvellously and settles the sights back in on target so fast:redface:. Have fun and I almost forgot...I DEMAND A RANGE REPORT!!!

drama off:rolleyes:

I think I just need to get used to the new physics of the gun. I have "played" a bit more with it and have manged a good grip purchase now...feels solid. I will post a field report soon guys. Thx!
