update! just arrived Mega Gator lowers

It's early... I can't find the post on where you are buying said lower.

Are you talking about Me????? I can't deside what brand I should buy for a lower. My top choice was a Mega Gator lower or a LaRue tactical, I can't find a new Stag as Walt from ArmsEast is not replying to emails sooooooo... what's left RRA, Dlask, or M&P15 unless there's another Stag dealer around. I what to nail this down by Tuesday the latest. I guess as to the Post title -- I should have said "update! buying a lower IN CANADA..."

Now I liked the Mega & LaRue for the unique /  factor not many around these parts. both had a very good rep. & I have to be different.

There you go.

Go with the LaRue if you can. Lots of people will fondle you just to hold it.

And if you have to sell it, you will easily get your money back (if not more).

Lots of people will fondle you just to hold it. :p :dancingbanana:

I wish I could find a new LaRue lower in Canada, That's why I'm about to give up & buy an Ar lower that everyone else has sells in Canada. I didn't think buying an AR would be so hard to do since I'm only buying 1.. I hate settling for less.

The big problem is exporting from the US, many smaller shops like LaRue are not interested in jumping through the many hops it takes to export to Canada (dealing with US State Department and ITAR rules and regs), and in addition with Canada being a smaller market makes it economically unfeasible from them. Most of the good arms manufactures are so busy with the gold rush in the US they don't have to time looking at Canada.

Anyways, I can confirm that LaRue is not exporting to Canada. Your only option with a used lower from the EE

Well I would love to buy a LaRue, Mega gator, Spike or a Red River Tac. but untill some canadian dealer desides to Import a lot of 25+ lowers looks like I'm out of luck. Questar light be the option at least there trying.

cmmg lowers are really good, they are actually made by LAR, who mills lowers for cmmg, spikes, bushmaster, dpms, ( from what im told) just different markings on the them, and i like the little m16 better than the others. (imho) i cant find any info on the tactical inovations ones, or the quality. im not interested in the billet ones as the forged ones are stronger, and ive read of lots of peoples billets cracking over time. so if anyone has a tacinovations lower . please chime in what do you think of the fit and finish.

Well over 2 months later I finally got my Rare Lower I wanted :dancingbanana: I bought 2 Mega Gator Lowers & 1 matching upper picked it up a local dealer & cgn member who was very nice and offered to do the import paperwork. Very greatful thanks well in a few hours I got this built up the upper kit is a Stag 16" flat top. the other lower I was planning to do a shorty. Now I got a hard-on for a Spikes lower. So I might part with one of these babies for a Spikes just to be different.

Just read this thread and PM sent with apologies, If I can say though, checking the date, as the guy who responds to the emails here, the only thing I was responding to that week was morphine and demerol, at the hospital.

(now I'll read the rest of the thread to see how you made out!)

Now thats a nice unit!

How hard was the paperwork if you don't mind me asking?

Not hard at all paid a dealer here & a FFL dealer to take care of everything on both sides.

Wow...thats a very nice AR. What was the total cost if you dont mind me asking?

thanks I like it did it in Foliage Green which kinda looks between cement & like OD green works both in urban & grassy areas. as for cost it would take me abit to figure that out. I would say closer to $1800. mark it would be cheaper to buy one out right used and change a few parts. But I got the frame & look I wanted a Urban AR. Tangodown grip ordered from Brownells & I still need to find a front sight.

I'm also thinking of doing a shorty like 10.5" or 11.5" not a big fan of the long barrel 16" might do a swap there. I also would really like to do a 9mm AR then to have 2 of the 5.56 nato AR's
