my email to cz Usa "I currently possess a Bren 2 ms with a 14 inch barrel, however im looking to make it a 18.6 in barrel length to meet Canadian legality.

besides getting a barrel made in that length what else will be required? "

the response " You would need a different gas tube. However with you being in Canada, I can’t sell anything to you due to your countries import laws. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Hmm that’s interesting. Would need to hear from Dlask about how they are going to solve the gas block requirement.

call him yourself.

LOL ya no. Already spoke with Leigh and several other gunsmith who have converted MANY rifles for me. But get the gas system and wait it out if you feel otherwise. or why would dlask say it's easy peasy and is already converting 1!?!??

Call them yourself and see, his name is Leigh at Dlask Arms or ask Herron Arms. You'll need yo find the #s yourself

Guys just calm down... let Leigh work his magic. Every time he has to pick up the phone for us, he is side tracked from working on the project. I'm sure he's done this long enough to know that the gas system will likely have to be lengthened. Breathe everyone.

Not entirely correct, lol. To start it's not our import laws but more like their export laws that don't allow them to send major components of the firearms out of the US. You may have heard of it, it's called ITAR.

Second, you don't necessarily need to change the length of the gas system. It could be a matter of changing the diameter of the gas port in the barrel to adjust for the difference in barrel length.

Next week we should have one here to look at and convert. We will figure it all out then.

Our standard barrel swaps are $600.00 + tax and shipping. This means we supply the barrel and re-use the gas block / barrel trunnion from the gun, install, check head space, test fire and then change the status with the RCMP to N/R. You also get to keep the original R barrel.

Does this mean the original R barrel would be unusable at this point or could they still be swapped freely? Not sure if this involves hacking up the R barrel for NR barrel parts.

Would be nice to have both options available (maybe one in 7.62x39 and the original R in 5.56).

I see. Can we change the barrel ourselves once you converted it to NR since we are getting the original restricted barrel back to us? Do we need special skills and tools, or only a gunsmith can do it?

We will return your original Restricted barrel, it is your property not ours. As for the 'easily swapped back' probably not but I won't know until I get a sample rifle in to look at and take apart. Hell, I'm not even 100% sure the barrel is changeable right now ! lol

Also for the caliber swap you will also need a spare bolt of each caliber etc. don't forget.

So....guess what hit the shop and we got to re-barrel ?

Amazing! Will you have both 5.56 and 7.62 barrels? I need the 7.62 one.

Would you be able to provide the usual specs that barrel usually comes with such as whether it is cold hammer forged, twist rate?

Also, following up one of the earlier questions, will we able to install the original barrel ourselves without gunsmith helps?

Amazing works! Looking forward for the update on the questions above. :)

so the original barrel is cold hammer forged. How about Dlask's barrel? Accuracy?

Don't get mad cuz you keep asking the same questions with little to no responses anymore.

No one's fault your reading comprehension skills are literally non existent
We use Green Mountain Barrel Co. blanks made from 41V50 steel. We have been using these for literally decades and have never had an issue with them. As for accuracy they will match any semi-auto .223 barrel out there.

We don't give accuracy 'guarantees', those are more a gimmick than anything else considering the myriad of different factors that go into any one pull of the trigger.
