Transfer update on my December 12th purchase of a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm and a Smith and Wesson Model 17/6 .22 revolver.

After about a dozen calls today to various parts of the country, New Brunswick and other unknown locations to person who only give there first name, it seems as if they have registered both firearms as M&P 40 Cal’s, the 22 revolver has now disappeared into thin air and the 9mm has grown into a non changeable 40 Cal.

I was present in the Wolfsden when I purchased these pistols, I was also present when Gary rang the details through in a clear and precise manor to the firearms office. Several of the calls were dealt with by I don’t give a dam attitude whilst others were more sympathetic to the total incompetence of the nameless officer who dealt with this from the start.

I have been told that a verifiers report will need to be issued now but the lady I just spoke to seems to think as it was there #### up things may get rushed through.

I sit with baited breath and fingers crossed.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The seems to have been some CFC confusion in the last while (maybe always?) esp. regarding restricteds but in my case the nice lady at the BC CFO sorted everything out and made it happen. If I hadn't called it would have sat in limbo forever. I can only imagine if you got the wrong people on the phone it could be a real cluster ****.

Are the phones manned by RCMP officers? If so, are police not required to provide their name/badge # if asked?

Anytime I have dealt with the police in person, I always get better "service" after asking for their info.

The officer I dealt with via e-mail to get a Antique verification letter for one of my revolvers wouldn't immediatly issue a letter even though his records showed the serial/model was antique, because the info I provided him was more detailed than what they had on record. I asked him how he had "ANY" info on a non-registered antique... he wouldn't say. Aparently the registry is used for more than just restricted/non's/prohibs and even if it dissapears, it isn't going to dissapear.

back on topic..

I find it convienient that there's yet one more way for the CFC to harass gun owners that not only is not harassment, but you have to bend over and take it. And to top it off the penalty for their inability to do the most simple of jobs, is to jump through more hoops to correct a problem that they KNOW is their fault and is fixed by a click of the mouse.

These people piss me off.
