So I went down to Buffalo Gun Center today..WOW! Anyway...we can talk about that later ;)

For now...I am happy to report that the Trijicon reflex is not as bad as I thought in terms of washout...they actually let me take the sight out into the parking lot where I was able to test it in varying light conditions from shade to almost direct sunlight and i was able to see the dot at all times. (and that was WITHOUT the Cyalume capsules). I also mounted the sight to a Benelli M4 (they had one in stock..along with some M1s...sigh) and it pointed quite well even though it was the model designed for flattop mount. The chevron is cool and does not obscure the target.

That having been said, there were some things that i did not like:
1) I was under the impression that the Cyalume sticks last for a long time...the fact that the scope comes with like 12 of them was a big tipoff that this is not the case...I also wonder how long they will be available (but again, my tests were done without them
2) The sight picture seemed purple
3) The front end seemed mirror like...may as well put a neon sign on my head

Would I still buy one? probably ;)

I also looked at the Tri-power, some ACOGs, EOTech, AIMPOINT, C-More, and some cheaper stuff (tasco???)...I found that the Aimpoint dot was too small and seemed to bounce around too much for me..I like the variable reticles on the Tasco but it does not seem up to par with the more expensive scopes (as expected).

Bottom line: Reflex and EOTech are still in the running...

For what it is worth we just received our Bushnell shipment of new Trophy illuminated sights. These are 1 to 1 and have either red or green (selectable)"T" shaped reticle that is very bright also are water proof and recomended for shotguns rifles and pistols. These come with a built in mount and fit on weaver style bases. Also these look almost exactly like a aTrijicon Acog sight. We sell them for $199.

Those mini cyalume sticks have been around for ever. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen the small packets selling in dollar stores as of late. Now having said this, consider that a full sized cyalume stick (or "light stick" if you may) lasts for only an average of about 12 hrs, I don't imagine one of the tiny ones would last much longer than that...

hsld.

thanks..that is good to know...

BTW, I tried some sights today (courtesy of cpt canuck) includin the EOTech

OK I'm going to say what I always say, the Eotech is the BEST sight for a shotgun! all the other ones are rifle sights(though my ACOG did look wicked on your SG) I love the 65moa dot for a SG, it like a giant doughnut of death, very fast!!

The new Tripower ( the aluminum bodied WITHOUT the cylaume port ) is pretty nice. I like the fact that the fiber optic essentially regulates the brightness . If its bright outside it obviously brightens the chevron . There is a

The battery power works like a hot damn as well ( I would rather have a rheostat than a membrane switch but its works ) .

Easily visible in all lighting conditions. Its also built like a tank. Its machined from a one piece aluminum forging.

Is that the new one or the old one? Does it leak light through the fiber optics at night? If so is that the model that comes with a cover the hide the glow?

This TX30 pictured is the new model. Yes the fiber optic leaks light out when you use the battery illumination. You can see the cover in the last pic so you can't see the glow

the tri-power felt "cheap" compared to the others...so they changed it from plastic to aluminim?

here's the acog pic again, this time with some photoshop cropping...man I love that pic!
