Hi Guys,

Just bought a revolver off another CGNer on the EE and I'm currently waiting for the transfer to pass by the CFO. I'm wondering if the election might cause the CFO to hold on a little longer than usual. It has been roughly a month that I've been waiting. It is my first handgun. (buying another this weekend I hope).

Can anyone give me a recent Ontario example of how long people have been waiting? Also anyones opinions on my "holding on for election results" theory?

Thanks in advance...

Phone the CFO office and ask them if there's any other information they require. Be polite. Don't get into political speculation. Ask when the transfer to be completed.

It's amazing how many transfers sit in the "in" basket because a single item of information is missing, or is unclear. (This from talking to CFO staff). A phone call will expedite this, if it's the case, and if they're just slow, it will remind them that a) you're still there, and b) they have a job to do.

If you don't have the direct line, call the 1-800 number for Mirimachi and ask them for the extension for Ontario CFO.

Hi Guys,

It has been roughly a month that I've been waiting. .

At 45 days, call the CFC out East, explain the concern of time, they will forward you to your CFO office, be polite, raise your concern about the delay, include actual number of days since request.

And yes they must follow under political pressures. If your boss tells you that you must wait 44 days before you can process parperwork. Is it your fault?
Would you follow your bosses direction to keep your job?
That is why I say be polite, but be proactive.

I have sold to people in Ontario and have waited as long as 6 weeks before i could ship to them, this has happened 2-3 times

But remember that this is my first handgun. I would think 5 days would be far to nice and efficient for the Ontario CFO.

Whether it's your first transfer or not makes no difference. When I purchased my first firearm, a restricted, it was done the next day.

It's all luck of the draw with the CFO and how efficiently they happen to be working.

its hit and miss, this time last year I had one which was 8 weeks, a few weeks ago I had one which was 2 days...

Well I just ordered a Sig P220 elite stainless from Questar today so I'll report back and see wich comes in first. Now I'm playing the waiting game for two handguns. I'll call the CFO next week to see if I can help in speeding things along. Questar's website says that I'll have to wait 4 to 8 weeks just for the order from the states. Then I have the CFO wait and delivery wait.

I get the feeling I won't see either for month or two. Maybe November? Waiting sux. :(

For those who are interested the Deal was made and passed by the CFC on August 28th, and the CFO in Ontario just approved the transfer today on September 26th. So my first handgun was approved in 30 days. Not bad I guess. It could be better, but not bad all in all I though it would have been worse.
