Update on rifle status at WCRA

You'll have to ask our President about whether or not a letter will be posted in the club house to inform everyone what is and what isn't allowed etc... but it would certainly be a good idea.

Future reference, make sure you have the President and Vice Presidents phone numbers and if you ever have an issue simply call one of them and they'll sort it out right away.

Just had chat with the president.

As Jefro said the problem was with guys coming in with the cheap mil-surp and spraying and praying often at the 25m range and just damaging stuff. He clarified that black rifles and any kind of rifles for that matter up to .50 cal are still permitted and not only for the purpose of sighting in. Though reasonableness should be exercised, pretty much boils down to aimed fire with rifles (black or otherwise) is still permitted, but just spraying and praying making noise is discouraged.

There was also the matter rifle shooters damaging silhouettes as they're not meant for center fire rifle fire. As Jefro mentioned there're plans for cameras going up to hopefully deter this kind of behaviour.

Anyways just wanted to provide that update for those who are interested.

I was a little shocked with this thread at first.

Im a director there and people are blowing this way out of proportion.

Glad you found out some of the real reasons for some of our decisions as of late. We has one bad apple the was making damage with an SKS just like every other club locally has had issues with.

Dont feel discouraged for shooting your rifle on the range that its certified for it.

You should see some of the hardware we have been rocking out there that last few Wed nights.

Please come out and make a run for the board of directors. It would be nice to have some new blood on it. Its all run by crazy IPSC people.

Only thing that bothered me was calling a Tavor a machine gun. That was disrespectful. We only wish we could own and shoot machine guns. No need to rub salt in our black rifle loving wounds. It is a pistol club so I respect their right to that and if they are just trying to eliminate ass hats shooting the place up I get it. Rapid fire should be allowed whether pistol or not. :ar15:

This is what frustrates me at clubs, a few bad apples and the clubs only response is to ban. Keep on that track and eventually we'll be shooting from guns that have to be welded to the bench. DEAL with the idiots, the 1% that is causing the problem! I know it's harder and banning is a quick easy fix but it solves nothing. Most of the time the idiots causing problems are doing so out of ignorance, these guys just need to be made aware of the ramifications of their actions. The vandals are easily sorted, simply send them packing, use the BAN hammer on them. Teach up, don't rule down.

There are bad drivers on the road, so therefore we should ban cars.

Seems like typical lefty logic applied here.

I guess it was the reiteration of "we are a PISTOL CLUB" and the bit about the military ammo that got to me. Regardless, glad to have this bit clarified and sounds perfectly reasonable. Though in light of the newsletter I anticipate having a couple discussions with those who shall not be named when I am seen shooting my ugly black rifle haha.

As for the board, I don't even know what being on the board really entails, though if you've got something against them crazy IPSC people.... me being on the board adds one more :p
