Guys the little shooting house did great !
Over the week of the Controlled hunt (as most know it is party hunting) I had 7 people in the group. 2 had to leave on Wednesday so we planned that everyone would spend the first couple days using their own tags or shooting at something that they wanted. Tuesday we would place the early departures Tags on the table and use them up first. The hunt went good as most got shooting but luck just was not on their side. Myself I had a good hunt with my new shooting house and my new 870 cantaliever barrel and Rem Ultra core slugs. I passed on 8 shootable deer over the week , passing on Doe and fawns at the start of the week and a buck the first morning under my stand and there was not enough light to shoot and I was NOT going to be the first one shooting Monday morning.
By Tuedays the Winds got up and the snow started to fly. The deer held up for a day and a half untill the weather front went through.
Over all I killed a 8 pointer on Monday , a 7 pointer on Tuesday morning , Shot and missed a good Buck (Hit a dam branch with the slug) grrrrrrr , Thurday morning Killed a Doe ,and Friday afternoon killed another 5 pointer (in another stand).
I was soon packed up and headed North for a week of Rifle hunting with the 270WSM. Tuesday afternnon , I headed out and sat in a field and had another buck come out with a test of Luck at a shot some 275 yards away. Well I got him too another 7pointer and them 140 Accubounds sure made some distruction on that thing. I can tell you I dropped him in his tracks lol.
I head to Pa at the end of this week with the 270wsm and I have some different ammo this time and have resighted my rifle for this trip. I have changed to 150 silvertips to see if I can keep from Blowing up these deer.
Here's a few pic's of the last couple weeks,
