Update Post 99!!! Marlin Lever Rifles for thick woods hunting. My two!!!

That's great Jay, it means so much to have something that once meant so much to a loved one. I have my late fathers 303, one of my prize possessions. Every time I take it out I think of him and the time he spent teaching me about hunting and guns. I will never part with it and I hope my son will enjoy it someday, and perhaps his son or daughter will too.

Keepsakes really do mean so very very much. Very nice you have your dad's 303, heartwarming!

So I got to the range with the 1974 Marlin 336 in 35Rem AND THE OLD GIRL SHOOTS!!! :ar15:

Here is the big piece of cardboard I put up at 50m to get on paper... Keep in mind that I took the scope/rings/base off another rifle & I was using older 200 grain ammo to get close... First shot was WAY high, a little right so I cranked her down & left. Fired again, still too high, adjusted & fired two shots almost touching... HAPPY!!! And off I went to 100 meters with the Hornady Lever Evolution...

First 3 shot group with the Hornady ammo was high. BUT LOOK AT THAT GROUP! This is a 44 year old lever gun, MAN WAS I HAPPY! I adjusted down a bit & fired another shot which was still a bit to high, so I adjusted the scope a bit more. I then fired 3 more shots which were, NOTHING SHORT OF AWESOME!!!

:dancingbanana:

This is the rifle I will take spring bear hunting this year... MAN AM I HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND A 1974 Marlin 336 in 35Rem!!! To the CGN'er that made this possible, a VERY humble thank you my good man!

Folks in the firearm community are AWESOME!!!!!!

I ‘needed’ a vintage hammer spur for my 1974 Marlin 336 in 35 Rem & lo and behold a JM original 'showed up' in the mail...

Thanks Kamlooky!!!

Thanks again Kamlooky! I'm so happy to have that hammer spur!

And now that I have the 1974 vintage Marlin, I thought an updated picture was in order... Here's hoping my daughter has some interest in hunting & shooting as the stainless is hers when she's old enough...

Cheers

Very nice Jay

Thanks!

I had the rifle out today to oil it down & admired. My goodness, how is it possible to be smitten with a firearm? Because I'm smitten!

And, I guess I should update my thread with a pic of the buck I took with my 1974 Marlin 336 in 35Rem.
