UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

The tang sight ...

Foxer,

I may be missing/overlooking something, but isn't that tang sight in the picture mounted at just about the spot where the web of your hand is situated when you're gripping the stock?

Especially so in a one handed grip ... ?

Well it looks like that but there's plenty of room for the hand still. Guys have been using these sights for a lot of years :) But i'll know more when mine arrives, it shipped today. I'll get a feel for it.

Sights

"I found the Rossi shot a bit high and no matter how I adjusted the rear sight. I know there was talk of the gun shooting high but I was wondering if anyone has changed their sights on their guns."

Yup.

We're working on it.

Maybe wait a few days and see what pops-up on this here thread :)

Sound good Boomer. I check this thread daily now.

I got my Rossi used from EE
I ask the guy who owned my Mare's Lag if it shot high and he said it is dead on at 20 yards and 40 yards!(no sight mod.)
Just right for hunting Haida Gwaii deer I'm a lucky Rossi Ranch Hand owner haha

Ummm ... sorry Carverk ... but this person (in my opinion) was not being honest with you.

He was on the EE here??

Hmmm ... we'll eventually sort-out the issue with the "flawed" sights on the Rossi Mare's Leg ... but I am thinking that we're all really very curious to know who sold you your firearm on the EE.

Maybe we could learn something about his magical Rossi sights:)

when I get out of camp me and my Nephew are going to go out and test my ranch hand out .
I wood like to see for my self were the sights point of aim is so im thinking that if we rigged a long shooting bag up so the rossi can't move at all and shot it at 20,25, 40,50, 75 and a 100 yards I will know the point of aim
That where my Nephew come in he can move the target back for me kids like to do all the work haahaa! He gets to shoot the Henry 22 Mare's Lag note to self get 1000 rounds of 22 for the brat to shoot off I'm not hart less LOL.

I got it from twoshots
transfer just came in he sending it out in the morning
With me in camp it has taken me sum time to get my part of the transfer dun

Thanks ... but there's no trail/record of twoshots or even 2nd shot or even 25tikka selling Rossi rifles in the EE ... or none that I could easily find. But I might have missed something.

Please explain or send a relevant link. Sorry man, but this just doesn't add-up.

Prove me wrong, and I will apologize.

Mine is feeding flawless. Trigger breaks clean. Better than my winchester. 44mag lead flat swc are no problem. Off hand a 25 feet 6 out of 7 rounds touching.
The wood isn't as nice as a puma/chiappa but it is solid and clean over all. The barrel is very slightly over indexed and it shoots high and to the left a couple inches at 25 feet.

Overall I'm very happy with it for the money and had a blast shooting it.

I just fond this post you can ask twoshots about the ranch hand and any changes he has dun to my Rossi Mare's Leg.
shod have known he wood have posted her

It's 4 am in Ontario...

In my pm I said it shoots dead on at 20-40 FEET.
I hadn't shot it further. Two inches high at 20-40 feet could be higher at 100 meters or not depending on ammo.
I found it to be bang on off hand at these distances.

And ps I love the Rossi and will happily take it back if caverk doesn't like it. I have a chiappa as well and didn't need both :)

Chiappa is the same so far but I haven't shot either out past 40 feet. They are both sweet. The Rossi is alittle more solid without the take down bit the chiappa is beautiful. Mine is 44mag.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Many thanks for taking the time to clear-up my confusion :) ... and I hope that you'll accept my apology for sounding sceptical about the situation.

well carverk sounds like you got the one ranch hand that will hit where it is aimed haha, you lucky sumbeech!

I am loving the 44 mag, just got my 300gr hard casts from bullet barn, and I will have some rounds loaded up as soon as my arms heal up and I can use em again.

I am looking forward to seeing how well it does this summer in the bush. I have a feeling the holster might get uncomfortable quickly, I may just strap it to my pack.
