UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

You only need one well placed shot if you need more you should think about taking up fishing instead.
The limitations are the Hunter not his equipment.

Heh - my grandad insisted we start with single shot centerfires when we were old enough to 'move up' from 22's (Which were also single shots).

He used to say that if you can't do the job with one shot, you had no business having any more anyway :)

Foxer your grandfather is smart man.
Nothing better than making a strategy and following through with it for that one perfect shot.
Watching your animal drop like a sack of potatoes knowing your shot was clean and humane.

I imigne it wouldnt be hard to mount one. But I dont think it would be easy to get your eye relief right and hold it steady enough to shoot comfortably with any type of scope, even with an EER or LER scope.

I like the idea of one of those tiny skinny red dots if you could mount it in that little place the safety goes. that would be awesome.

I am not sure about anything surving too long cycling back and forth with the bolt though Driller.

Those peep sights mount on a bridge over the rear of the action. A red dot could mount the same way maybe. Then it wouldnt be flopping around all over the place.

Or maybe you could knock the rear sight out and mount a Dr. Optic in there.

You could even just use a universal barrel mount and a bit of inletting on the forend to allow for it to sit up tight against the front edge of the receiver. If you really wanted to get serious you could glass bed it all together.

But if you wanted to be really badass, you could put an AK/SKS side rail on the receiver and mount some crazy russian red dot!

Then you could swap it out for a POSP scope for long range shots, or night vision even!

(Hehe)

I want a scope that's longer than the gun personally. Something with a sunshade.

A good 4-5 inches over overhang past the barrel would look mighty purdy :D

So who's going to jam a free floating handguard from an AR on this so they can mount everything they own on it at once?

edit: and bipods... no one has mentioned BIPODS!

I think Steve McQueen is rolling over in his grave....

Screw a bayonet mount, I've found what the mare's leg really needs.

I give you:

The Gun Axe! :D :D :D

I bet you could use pipe clamps and an old tube handled hatchet.... just replace the mag tube with the hatchet handle and pipe clamp it right on there ;)
