UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Put me down for one of the plainer hip holsters Gary. I am excited to see what OS comes up with. But whatever is cheapest works for me. That black one doesnt look like it will work well.

I think it will be just the right way to carry it while my arms are busy shooting distant gophers with a more well suited gun.

That way, when a closer one pops up....

my thoughts exactly. plus for in the bush I dont want that rifle bouncing and bumping and twisting around etc on a saddle ring sling. the rifle will be in a scabbard/holster for me.

By the way guys, spacesaver is making me a belt/holster combo, in case you want to contact him before you make any decisions.

Oh, and I'd prefer an open bottom holster. So dirt and rain and whatnot can find its way out.

Hi all,
Right now I am working on the belt for driller212 and, if he's happy with the belt, then will start on the holster. I'm thinking of a design similar to what Mernicke has that would also allow back carry. I'll let you know how things go.
Cheers!!

Guys.... I just completed my Ranch Hand! Now it's the ultimate.

Just busy fashioning a drum mag, to be pinned of course.

Unfortunately I could not find a suitable light/laser combo.

I`m in.Been awhile since being here, and what do i find.

Would be nice in .44 mag. Too bad it`s not in 454 casull to go with my Puma.

A drum mag conversion would NOT have to be pinned. Its not semi automatic.

BRING ON THE 50 RD DRUM

This will be as close to carrying a handgun in he bush as most of will ever get...I can't wait

Gary - needing a LEFT Side holster option as well please!

Oh man! I juat looked at this entire thread. Pretty much proved that I NEED to get one. It's like a seatbelt for hunting! Probably don't need it, but when you do, you'll be glad you had it. Plus it would be a sh*tpile of fun!! Guess I know what to start saving for...

So is there any way of getting one of these sluts in 454 casull? And getting a spare normal sized stock with it?

no plans from rossi yet ........ just 45 colt .

i can almost see 454 casull being a no brainer , they already have " normal" 1892 rifles in that chambering .

i'm actually hoping they go one step farther and chamber it ( and their longer lever guns ) in 460 s&w .

Well i'll be interested in seeing what you come up with. My concern witht he mernickle design is it may not effectively allow for after market sights easily (it almost looks like it NEEDS the sight to stop the gun from moving forward. I could be wrong tho. I'd like to look at some of the fibre optic options if i don't just put a williams or other peep sight on it and remove the buckhorn sight altogether.

As ugly as that vertical grip looks it would make the mare's leg configuration easier to cycle....without the full length but stock anchored to a shoulder the lever action creates a lot of torque that would be mitigated by the vertical grip.

But I've already got an extra full butt stock waiting.

I think one of those magpul thingies would look better on there than a vertical grip, but i still think bubba-ing one of these things is treason.
