UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

The one in .410 g. is name the trail judge I think. But I don't see them in the 2011 catalog. Heard they had problem with the BATF in the state and pull them out of the shot show along with the 28 g revolver...

It remain to be seen if we could get it here.

These are funky lookin' little guns. and being of Rossi/Taurus manufacture, will be of
good quality steel and need only a lighter ejector spring in the bolt to save damage to the brass upon ejection. I've done this to both my M92 .44 16" & .454 20" Rossi rifles
and it works! However, for a pack or home defence gun, I would have to go with the
16" .44 Mag standard lever gun with a Skinner ghost ring rear sight and small bead front.
Real neat "Look at me" cowboy guns though.

" Skinner ghost ring rear sight and small bead front. "

Could those same sights be mounted on the Ranch Hand?

Don't know about defesive purposes, especially with the .44 mag, but a nice gun none the less. Id much prefer a full stock, but for riding around on the quads or whatever this would be awesome to carry no doubt.

I might be concerned about the classification if these things start flying off the shelf though. If they are sold as a handgun in the US,and marketed as such by Rossi, I wouldn't doubt the RCMP could attempt some reclassification BS. I surely hope not, and I await the word from Wanstalls when they are finally imported.

Gary, will the Ranch Hands have the silly safety on the bolt?

Doesn't matter - if they do steves guns sells a replacement 'stud' to eliminate it - OR you can actually get a rear peep sight from them which fits into that hole.

No and Yes.

I'd rather it was clean but the safety's not a deal breaker....as for the rear sight I like the XS.

There's no windage on the rear stud sight and I'd rather not have to correct it all up front if needed.

Yep - got my name down. Despite myself I may actually buy a gun brand new for the first time in my life :p :D Wanstalls, what have you done to me??

As for reclassification fears.... our laws are different, so I'm not so concerned. This gun is not meant to be fired one handed, and indeed, isn't really capable of being used one handed without significant amounts of awkward and ungainly movements, much like trying to shoot any long gun one handed. Because our laws determine a handgun by certain specifications and intent, it falls under definition of a long rifle. Works for me.

they wont reclassify it, its just a lever action. but never say never (just so I dont jinx it! :S)

Good to see you are on board wally! we will have to have a mares leg shooting competition :p
