UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Geologists I see you like that look of panic that the green guys get the first time working with the chopper.
I thought I was the only one who got a kick out of that LOL.
It doesn't take long for them to get the hang of it ,a trained monkey can do it!

It's all good camp/field humour ;).

We want a good range report when you get that mares leg!

Geologist I am hoping to have it setup before roundup in Stuart!
Me and the boys will shoot the piss out of it, I will give you a full field report!
I never purchase ticket but then again I have always just crashed the party! LOL
my nephew was looking for work drilling he called me up and said the crash the Roundup in Vancouver!
I'm looking forward to going back to Stuart and visiting old friends.

Steve McQueen's mare's leg had the following mods:
a) half power blanks
b) 45-70 cartridges in his belt (too big to fit in the gun)

McQueens rig had 45-70 rounds on the belt becuase the producer thought that they had more presence.

Foxer There must be somebody on this site from the lower mainland that into that cowboy action shooting.

You'd think. I'll have to look around

It is a good sport especially for city guys gets you out of the city and shooting lots of rounds.

Well heck, for that i just drive into the woods and set up some tin cans as it is :) vancouver isn't exactly far from the forest :D
It is obvious you are drawn to that style of shooting as are all those other cowboy shooters.
I have to admit - it does have an appeal to me.

Pretty sure that they will be just as interested in your mares lag as you are

Well hopefully not TOO interested - i would be leery of a group that let me in because they liked me showing off a little leg.... :D

now this is the thread I know and love!

$629 that is fantastic Gary! thanks alot for taking the time and making the effort!

I'm crossing my fingers that I am in the first shipment!

PS: who ever said that the cost would be how many posts there would be, you were close! when he said $629 that was post 627! haha

You're right - that darn wanstalls is ripping us off for 2 bucks!! :)

lol hardly, I think thats a damn good price, and it is a rarity that something comes in less than the expected price, I am quite grateful!

cant wait to get it in my hands :D

I ordered one in 45 Colt to "handgun" hunt with:)

And I did figure out a situation where I will use it for bear defense.

I live in a rural area with about 10 houses in the area, my closest neighbor is a km away, and we have lots of bears. We often go for short 1-2 hour hikes in the hills around here and often with the dogs, and almost always the bears run away. usually I dont' bother carrying a gun because I just dont' expect a problem, but I might carry the Ranch Hand just because it would be fun. Fun being the operative word. It's not like the 'as issued" Mares Leg would be a practical defense weapon, because it's not, (at least to the informed) but I guess it's better than walking back an hour, getting a gun and shooting the bear that got aggressive with us. ;)

Would I carry it while creeping around the thick rain forest jungle of Bella Coola, the high alpine passes around here or in the Northenbush where there are plenty of grizzlies waiting to pounce? :p

hell no.;)

foxer you will find the cowboy shooters a lot of fun.
They are good people who like to shoot way too much LOL!
You will find they are more than willing to introduce you to their sport.

So far the closest group i've found is in mission bc (a fair hike from vancouver).

I'll check them out if i can't find anything a little closer.

I just mentioned these firearms on a local hunting forum and they flamed me saying that they are prohib/restricted .. and that there's no way they can be non-res.

These are non-res, correct? They said they "meet all requirements for being restricted"

These are non restricted, as is the chippawa version which is almost identical.

"They" are clearly ignorant of the law. I explained why they're non restricted and posted the relevant law in either this thread or the other one we had going. They are clearly non restricted.
