UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Will have some other holster/belt options for you guys/girls pretty quick. I know Spacesaver is kicking some ass on some cool holsters, but I know he's only human....will have some different Canadian made options up soon for ya.... news on a firm ETA hopefully by mid next week. Also working on full length stocks as well...

and maybe ill put a Streamlight TLR 2 with rail on special when the Ranch hands are released too;)

Per the above.....

Wanstalls nailed it; although I am moving at a fair clip, with the unforseen details to adress as well as life in general, I can't see the first rig being ready for delivery till the weekend of the 26th. Was probably a good idea to look at other Canadian suppliers. And THANKS for looking Canadian!! :canadaFlag:
For those of you who have contacted me about a rig, I'll be PMing you for specifics before I start yours. I can't say exactly when they will be delivered but I will try to keep the wait time to less than two weeks.
Cheers,
spacesaver

This is about the 'steve mcqueens butt' comment, isn't it.

Also with that holster dont you think if you so much as jumped off of a rock (or helicopter ) the rifle might come off of the hook and be scraped by the sharp deadly rocks that it falls upon!

This is why I am unsure of this kind of holster... but only testing it will tell..

It depends on the 'clip' portion at the bottom. The clip is not just to hold it from swinging back and forth, it'll also be to keep tension on it in the vertical plane as well.

BUT - if it's TOO tight, it'll be hard to get out and in. And may scuff the gun.

I notice the 'hook' at the top is fairly deep, i guess that helps keep it secure if there's a little play.

Kydex with leather laminated on top might be good way to secure the lower part of that Steve Mcqueen style sheath. A well molded kydex clamp should keep the gun from lifting up off the loop hook.

Thanks for the update Gary!

I would think so - it's only about 4 lbs and as you can see in the pics the shape of the leg is going to give it a little 'sideways' pressure on the top anyway. I really think that unless the bear actually picks you up by the heels and vigorously shakes you for some time it's probably staying where it is. :)

You'd have to wear a coat over it to protect it from the elements if it rained tho. At least to cover the upper part.

I was reading that lever actions were more prone to jamming from dirt or icing than bolt guns. Is this a problem, even if cleaned after going out in sandstorms and freezing rain?

Huh?

Maybe in trench warfare. Lever guns have been used by hunters, trappers, guides etc for a very long time. Just keep debris out of them, like you would any rifle.

They get slung over your back, stuffed in packs and carried in your hands all the time. No need to keep them covered up.:p

x2. Levers with their actions closed are pretty tightly sealed against Canadian bush crud and moisture/ice. Just make sure all of the receiver screws are tensioned properly and your oil/grease or lack therof is appropriate for the temperatures that it'll face and yer good to go.

Revolvers are much more susceptible to field crud like twigs, dirt, mud etc so I use full flap holsters for my ATC wheelguns.

Thanks, I really want a lever gun. I was reading stories about stories about Africa on a hunting forum where they said the H&H bolt gun was better because they could field strip it and clean it with coffee. I just want to make sure that the action will cycle when I meet a bear (or zombie).

I don't think you'll have a big problem with it :) They're pretty reliable.

Update on the ranch hand availability? Interested in 357 but not interested in reading page after page of people trying to increase their total number of posts!

Well then maybe call the bloody store and ask and quit your whining. Unless you're just trying to increase your post count.

"Hello - i'd like some information please but I feel the need to insult everyone who's posted on the thread already first". Yeash.

i have to say that it is very possible the the 1892 action ( the one the ranchhands are built on ) , is more reliable than any ak or sks rifle made .

if you can't cycle the action , you have done something very very bad to it .

this theory applies to all guns , take care of them , and they will take care of you . treat it like garabge and it will give you the finger when you need it most .

lol so discussing things increases your post count? go figure.

+1 for me despite the fact that i dont give a sh!t what my post count is...

Anyone got an update on ranch hand availability... how about now... how about NOW. Now?? I'm just asking cuz I wanna bump up my post count. You see, I'm interested in .44 mag but not interested in reading page after page of people misusing exclamation points 'n stuff.

Tell ya what Mikey, I'll post you a f**king picture when they come out. I'll make one up just for you- on account of you being special and all. That will help save you reading a bunch of those word things people use when discussing something... ON A DISCUSSION BOARD. Okay, from now on guys, its updates only. No really. No more funny stuff. Mikey don't like it.

SKIING?!? I spent the day cleaning my squirrel guns... they're out, even though the fields are still full of snow. Goin' groundsquirrelin' next weekend soon as I'm off work. Lots of reports right across the province of sightings....

Oh, you meant updates for the Ranch Hand...

Hmmmmmm..... NOPE. Still nothin.

You've got a great post-count though.

:dancingbanana:

Will my post be more cool in a useless way if I put some dancing banana's in it?
