UPDATE: Rossi Ranch Hand Mares Leg

Gary knows how much driller and foxer really wants these rifles and they do not like disappointing everyone.
Pretty sure they will be worth the wait.
The guy with the seismic crew said they came back beat to hell and looked like crap.

Gary has his name is in for one as well as the rest of us.
I've read that Henry will be producing their versions of the Mares leg they will be available in 22lr and 45 colt!
I will call Henry arms tomorrow just to make sure it is not a Internet rumor.(big haida hint-hint Gary HA-HA) 22lr !!!

it's true Henry repeating arms will be producing the mares leg 22 S/ L/ LR ! I just checked their website and they are advertising them already.
Not bad for a firearm novelt ! ! ! !

Well i am disappointed deeply that it won't be till may. There was an event in may I was hoping to take it to and I'd have wanted to play with it and tweak it before then, but such is life. I know Gary does his best for us and you can't help it if they Americans don't want to sell 'em to us just yet.

Ahhh well. Gives me more time to work out how to make 'em belt fed.......

Quebecer
I'd be happy if someone started the inevitable 'range report' thread so I could subscribe to it and just wait. I'm worried about feeding problems after reading about the latest Marlins.

Well - i have the 16 inch carbine from rossi and it's the same gun, just longer barrel and a stock.

I haven't had any problems with feeding at all so far. And a 14 year old kid ran around 50 rounds thru mine without problems so its not exactly a 'stiff' action :)

You can get a dvd and a few extra parts from the states that show you how to 'slick it up' and make the action even smoother and faster.

yea if it is around 300 bucks I will definately pick up a henry .22 cal mares leg !

I was also hoping to get this rifle before may foxer, but what can ya do? those darn americans!

At least I will have my whole belt/holster set up for sure before I get it now I guess...

Is that the price they're talking? I'd pick one up for sure at that price - great for plinking grouse when out hunting

The Henry mares leg 22 would be very practical for those who want to shoot their Rossi ranch hand as original.
Having a practice rifle that is cheap to feed to go with your Rossi mares leg makes sense even if you reload.

ETA is unknown at this time..... Nothing we can do but be patient and cut Gary some slack!

I have faith that Gary will continue to update us when he has new information about the order.

My thoughts exactly. Also - handy for zapping a grouse or the like while you're out hunting deer. Probably come pretty close to fitting in the same holster.

Gary - can you guys get henry products as well?

Good cross training if you are shooting .38 special, but with hot .44's or .45's not so much...

sure it is. The rifle points and shoots the same way. Shooting a 22 rifle is good practice for learning to shoot a centerfire rifle, and learning on 22 pistols is good practice for more powerful pistols.

obviously you'd still need to practice a bit with the 'real thing' but it'd help train your muscles and eye for the task just fine. Plus - a little easier for the kids to shoot. :)

Not to dis shooting 22's because it's one of my favorite things to do, but in this case dry firing the Rossi would accomplish the same thing as far as learning how to handle the gun and keep the sights on target while squeezing the trigger.

edit, I guess getting some confidence in shooting and hitting with the little .22 wouldn't hurt...

As frustrating as it is and without getting into details, the ETA is back to officially "not sure". I will have an update on Friday but not expecting much...

Our distributor is looking into the Henry 22 and 45lc. We are a full line Henry dealer so access (if available) would not be a problem. Not sure if the .45's would sell at that price point though....
