If a mare's leg isn't short enough for you, how about a takedown?

Haha, I like it.

It ought to be called the "Bear's Leg"!

In Afghanistan they'd call that a camel gun. I think it would be pretty tough to cycle though.

1 round vs 1 round, 7.62x54R has to be a better bear killer than .44 Mag with the right bullets. But I think you can forget about a follow-up shot.

Another disadvatage to the "Bear's Leg" is that you will need some sort of defense from all the milsurp lovers that might lynch you for that!

And then there is the pain that shooting that thing would cause me!

*EDIT* Oh, and it needs a red dot....

:onCrack:

As for the delayed shipment on our Mare's legs, I can wait I guess. I can't afford the cost of buying two guns right now though. Hell, I think I wouldnt survive ordering two guns should the wife find out!

But if Rossi bails on us, I would go for a Henry .22.

Now these are ###y. I like the full holster over a strap one... just seems more efficient and capable of holding/protecting the gun

Makes me think - if the holster were made more along the thought as a scabbard - move the gun to the front of the scabbard and put pouches on the left side, you could have spare ammo, small cleaning kit and 1 pouch left over, all in a small nifty looking scabbard that could be carried via sling or attached to a backpack. Could double as a transport soft case.

Darn..... if plain take downs weren't so expensive already, I'd have this made..... LOVE the octagonal barrel and bandless forestock!!!!!!!!!! In fact........ I'd settle for a non-takedown in octagonal with that forestock! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

I hope they make a holster in od green and molle so I can put it on my vest and cross train with it....I believe the ranch hand is a vital tool in close quarters scenarios....:ninja:

I use 23 grains of H110 under a 300 grain gas checked hard cast in my Marlin .45LC with no pressure issues as bear medicine and was wondering if anyone knows if the Rossi or the Henry would handle the same load ? In addition , would the saddle ring stud be of such diameter and strength snap a single point sling to it ? One more thing , i like the gun but not the large loop lever so is there a source for standard levers in Canada ? Thanks guys .

the rossi comes in 454 casull in the same action , just a longer barrel .......

NO OTHER company making 1892 actions has chambered such a high pressure round ( without any issues i might add ) .

i am in no way saying that the 45 colt chambered rossi ranchhands will handle 63000 psi ...... but i would feel safe loading my own rifle on the " hot side " .........

as a disclaimer i do not take any responsability if you choose to make your rifle a grenade :D .......

absolutely. I myself am working on a bayonet lug.

If I had a hog I'd consider mocking up something like that saddle.....FREEDOM!

I like the sheriff's car in the backdrop.

As far as the Henry's go..there has been no official commitment to bring them into Canada. I've talked directly with the Henry Distributor and they would definitely work with us if there is some real interest. Pricing (unofficially) would land around $980 for the .45 and $380ish for the .22. ETA (and I hate to even say anything) would be 2-4 months. If this seriously interests any of you send me a PM and I'll take some numbers to Henry and see what we can do...

And in no way am I slowing down the pursuit of the Rossi!!!

Gary

This is all the info Gary posted the other day if you missed that...

I know I said I'd take one in .357 but I'd take on in .44 Mag if it makes them come sooner!!!

I hate passing this on, but there is no official ETA now for the Ranch hands into Canada. According to Rossi/Tauras, manufacturing production has been below what they projected in the first quarter and they have above sales expectations. So put those together and here we are....Good news is they are filling orders as they receive them...

will keep posting updates...Gary

Well, on the upside I won't be having to go into debt buying one immediately. Thanks for the updates, I'm up for buying one whenever they come in.

same here. its a shame but what can you do...

thanks for the update Gary. if you get the henry mare's legs before the ranch hands, I might pick one up from you.

a negative update is better than no update at all, at least we know what to expect, and what rossi's priorities are. I'm definitely disappointed in rossi though.
